“There was a special game plan due to
- Natural 1 turner of Cardinals
- Cardinals missing 3 players
In short it meant no stalling, but trying to stop the Cardinals.
The game did not go exactly as planned...
...This time Winston not delivering. Patriots throroughly outblocked the Cardinals, but lost the 'turns' battle 160-159. The game planner team expected dominance if the players follow the instructions, but the players did not delivered. Mack had admirable effort, the 'rest' of the team (the non killers) did 2 CAS, so they did well, but Winston did not do any which was a major dissapointment. Even Bortles and Smelter did 1 each!
Sidenote: It was as if Winston felt Janine would die, and mourned her during the game.
The game went as follows
1. Pats drive - 4 turn score by Upshaw. Bortles was to handle the kick, but after it went deep, Bortles moved towards the LOS, and instructed Smelter to bring it.
2. Card drive - 1 turn score. Setup was not to stop it.
3. Pats drive - Score in turn8. Smelter did it.
4. Cards 1 turn attept in turn8 - Failed in the goal line.
5. Cards drive - 3 turn score.
6. Pats drive - Score in turn8 by Bortles, after doing so clever moves, and support by teammates.
The game was more interesting for spectators than they expected partially due to no 2-1 grind, but also partially the below average effort by Patriots players. The drives were contested.
Better effort will be needed going forward, this will not be enough in the playoffs. The silver lining, beyond the 2 points, is that multiple players came close to the next skills. Smelter, Upshaw, Osemele could all realistically skill next game.
On to the Griffins!”
