#12 Wandering Woodchip – Dead (RIP)
The Quetzl Jungle Fighters are a tough opponent. Lizardmen usually are, with their solid front line that can stretch right across the field if it wants to, while the skinks do all the nifty ball stuff in the back-field.

But the Qutzls do things a bit differently, thanks to Witixl, their super-duper ball-carrying saurus who comes with AG3 and sure hands. And there's enough guard on the rest of the team to make sure he's rarely in a position where an opponent can get more than -2d on him. And when the guard is tied up on the far side of the field, then he's surrounded by a swarm of skinks instead. So once he has the ball, he scores.

At least this was what happened here. I scored my usual second-turn TD because I can't be bothered to stall - even when I'm facing the prospect of good old Helmut and his trusty chainsaw after the kick-off. Luck was with me though, and on the second attempt I snuck one of the wardancers in killed him with a single blow. This was, believe me, something of a relief.

But that didn't stop Witixl from running out the rest of the half with a nice leisurely stroll into the endzone on turn 8. To be honest, I probably could have tried a bit harder to stop him, but both WDs were KOd at this point and I thought I'd save myself for the second half.

The second half was more of the same, with that damned saurus getting the ball and a cage on turn 1. This time I really tried, using the wardancers to try and weed out the skinks wherever possible, and tying up the Krox and the ST5 saurus with the tree for as long as possible. My best chance at a stop came on about turn 5, when the lizard cage suddenly disintegrated (the tackling saurus broke away to blitz a WD and then got stuck in his TZ when he failed to fall over, the Krox failed his Really Stupid test, and suddenly Witixl was exposed...ish. Two catchers sprinted down to give cover, and all it needed was for the wardancer to leap into position for the blitz...

So he fell over, of course, and Witixl scored.

There was no chance for a 1-turn as 2/3 of the front line defence had stand firm and the third was a sidestepping skink in the middle. So I though I may as well introduce the skink to one of the wardancers in a final-turn act of senseless violence. And sure enough, that's what it was, with the WD double-skulling and injuring himself in the process.

But I can't complain. One dead lineman is not much of a butcher's bill when you consider what the wood elves were up against. More disappointing was the pathetic 2 for 15 passing game. Okay, so it was sunny, and I did only get three turns on offence in total, but I expect more from my throwers. They have been warned.
