“Just a quick report on this one as I was called away as soon as the match was over and so it feels a bit pointless writing much at this stage. Also, the match was so frustrating for me on so many levels that I really don't want to spend much time remembering it anyway.
This is no criticism of Dacrav, who played a good game and deserved the win, it's more about the total lack of anything going my way for the whole of the first half.
Yet again, we had sunny weather. I'm sick of sunny weather. STOP SENDING ME SUNNY WEATHER! Please just let me throw the ball without a penalty. Well, someone was obviously listening, because on the kick-off the weather changed... to blizzard!!!
After that, the first half was just rubbish. I don't want to complain too much about bad dice and bad luck, because it's just random and you can't expect all those good things that happen unless you accept the bad things as well. It's just that today was a day for the bad things. And for that first half they came thick and fast. I failed a hand-off that would have allowed me to score. I failed a block that would have allowed me to score. I failed a gfi that would have allowed me to score...
To be fair, Dacrav also has his share of bad dice, but not, sadly, with his blocking which managed to knock over ever one of my players whenever I really needed them to stay on their feet.
The second half was pointless. When it became clear I was going to lose I left my remaining players prone and just went for the tree blitz every turn. These were completely unsuccessful and it was such a relief when Dacrav scored and left me with one turn of offence. With a blizzard and a pretty solid defence I wasn't even going to bother going for a one-turn TD, just throw a short pass and be done.
So of course, when it was all over and there was nothing to play for, the blizzard died away, allowing me a token long pass to end on. Woop.
So grats to Dacrav for playing well and taking full advantage of a frustrated and distracted opponent. The best I can say for myself is that I saved all my rage for the real world and kept the chat box nice and clean :-)
But honestly, I @%*$^& hate sunny weather, and I @%*$^& hate blizzard even more!!
