Wow. This was a tough one. The whole thing felt like an uphill struggle and there were times it felt as if I was never going to get a proper offence going. But in the end, all my bad luck with bad dodging was balanced out by all my good luck with armour and injury rolls, and the end result was a really tough, but thoroughly enjoyable game.

There was so much scoring I can't quite remember the order everything went in, but Loew received to start things off and as far as I can remember, scored fairly easily. My first taste of offence was then delayed slightly by a blitz, but as Low pointed out later on in the game, I had too many AG5 leapers for him to be able to stop all of them. Perhaps if he'd been able to get some of them off the pitch things might have been a little different, but as it turned out, only one of them went out and that was my fault on a failed dodge.

There was another blitz to start the second half, and I've never been more grateful for nerves of steel on my thrower - who caught the kick in two tackle zones and then threw safely downfield without a worry in the world. Actually, he had a pretty good game all round, collecting 5 for 51 and rerolling his way out of an interception with failed safe throw, and also taking a few hard knocks but (for once) staying on the field.

Turn 4 in the second half looked like being the end of my run of good luck when I lost three players and couldn't really see how I was going to recover, but Loew kindly failed a dodge almost straight away and gave the opportunity to blitz the ball free. Sadly, it bounced all over the place before ending up in the hands of one of his blitzers who was even closer to my endzone than the original ball-carrier had been, and so the scores remained even.

My legion of AG5-ers took back the lead with two turns to go and this set up an exciting final turn in which one of the dark elf blitzers had to go for it twice for the score. It could have been even more exciting if he'd failed one of them and had to burn a reroll, but never mind.

I was delighted with a draw here. I was the stronger team by a good 250K, but it didn't feel like it on the field. I don't have nearly enough tackle to deal with developed elf teams, and although here my tactic of just getting in the way a lot on defence worked well enough, one or two more casualties - especially earlier on - would have made it a completely different ball game.

But thanks, Loew, for a very enjoyable hour or so. I look forward to many more in the future, whatever the end score.
