"The Brutes took on undefeated Paris today and played to a tight 1-1 contest. They received in a blinding sun, and set to work immediately bashing several Paris players from the pitch. With the clear numbers advantage Vothug was able to gradually move the ball forward in front of a wall of blockers. Yet, the Deadjokers wouldn't go quietly. With exceptional feats of dodging and ducking, Blitzers and Ghouls of Paris managed to take down the ball carrier on two separate occasions. Luckily for the Brutes, they always managed to recover, but the ability of Paris to play off the back foot was clear. Blitzer, Sbghat, managed to scoop up one of the loose balls and run it in for the score to end the half.

The second half was marked by Paris clearly out playing the defense of the Brutes. The Deadjokers screened and positioned players in such a way that the Brutes never had clear shots at the ball, or even solid positions to land blocks at all. Werewolf, Luigi Fratellini, ran in the score at the end of the 4th turn, to tie the game up.

The Brutes received hoping to score in the final moments of the contest, but the game plan was quickly dashed by Black Orc, Ig, missing the second block of the turn. The ball unsecure, and the Brutes completely out of position, it looked like a clear path for the Deadjoker score. Ghoul, Sylvie Ladessou, recovered the ball and was quickly caged up by his Paris comrades. However, Blitzer, Vothug, squeezed his way within in the cage, and managed to knock the ball loose of the would-be scorer preserving the draw.

Coach Buck Comments:

"You can tell Paris is a well coached team. I'm proud to say we got out of there with a draw. I'm pretty pleased with the play by Vothug there to save the game, not an easy tackle there and somehow he pulled it off. We definitely need to work on our defense, you could really see how they exposed us. Also, I take full credit for the error by Ig. I thought he was ready to make a block like that, but clearly he wasn't and it nearly cost us the game."”
