“After a stint in the winter league (we won’t speak of this anymore after “Tiny’s” reaction), the Stegadons were eager to get back into summer league play. Welcoming them back to the pitch were the Dirt Devilz Tomb Kings.

The saurus were certainly mad as the Devilz were pushing the Stegadons back with little effort. During halftime #5 Kar-Krax smashed a few brick walls just to loosen up.

Turn three was a turning point. #7 Arrix had just forced a fumble on the Devilz thrower when skink #9 Runhengun tried to pull away from a blitzer deep in Stegadon territory. In a brilliant move, Horus threw his hand at the skink, causing a spectacular wipe out, killing the little skink. Incensed the saurus roared for the apothecary, as they saw Runhengun as a bit of a mascot after the little guy scored the first touchdown in the preseason. Surprisingly, the coach relented and Runhengun will play again. Still, the team rallied and after a scrum around the loose ball, #11 Donotetmi managed to sneak in a break away for the score.

The highlight of the game for the Stegadons came with the opening kickoff as skink #10, Notasnak, fielded a beautiful kick by the Devilz all the way at the goal line. Grabbing the ball he handed off to saurus #3 Yukannoduzat. Amazingly, Yukannoduzat grabbed the ball in stride and began rumbling downfield around the scrum at the line of scrimmage. Curiously, replay showed the ball wrapped in fabric and Notasnak just hooked the ball on Yukannoduzat’s arm as he ran by. How he got it from a mummy, we’ll never know.

Bellowing all the way, Yukannoduzat followed a convoy of saurus and skinks. After some spectacular play by both teams fighting for position, a few lucky blocks by the skinks broke Yukannoduzat free and he sprinted to the end zone. However, out of nowhere skeleton #3 Femur breaks from a skink mark from the help of skeleton #12 Ptah. Running like his unlife depended on it, he marks the saurus just shy of his goal. Alas, the skeleton’s heroics are not meant to be as Yukannoduzat swats the lineman aside and rumbles into the end zone with the ball being dragged across the goal line thanks to Notasnak’s impromptu sling on the saurus’ arm.
