NCBB Season 36 Game 1
Out of Conference Game

The initial match of season 36 was a contest of endurance and grit against a tough coach who is fresh off a championship win in the NBFL no less. Both teams start their first season in the BCS looking to establish themselves among the other programs.

JMSB won the toss and opted to receive. Fresno was holding their center fiercely, so the Nurgle squad attacked the bottom flank. Pavel Bury was safely holding the ball, but by turn 6 the position was starting to get compromised. Coach Uber pushed for the score, hoping the defense could hold for 3 turns.

Fresno went on offense, but an unexpected double 1 on the blitz going for it left them in a vulnerable state. John Molson was able to retrieve the ball and while the Raiders were able to get it back, they couldn't get any players in scoring position before the first half ended.

The second half started with a pitch invasion that stunned 4 JMSB players vs 2 for Fresno State, but a deep kick gave the Nurgle team an opportunity to recover. Both teams happily traded blows midfield for a few turns, until a failed block from Huge Hugh Helmsworth gave Blade Divac an open shot at the ball carrier. The ball was knocked loose and nobody was able to retrieve it before time ran out for the Raiders.

After the match, the John Molson team was seen dumping a full keg of beer over rookie Kill'em Winslow who was nominated MVP for scoring an early casualty that set the tone to the game. The young prospect has a knack for blocking and we expect that to show throughout the season.
