“Dust Bowl 2020: An exhibition match played to show off the talents of two new teams entering the KPL this year.

In general, talent was not exhibited. Flingit the Unreliable was one highlight in an otherwise unending desert of mediocrity taking down 3 big guys as soon as the whistle went to set up Khok'tap the Obscene to swing around the other flank for a largely unopposed score. The rest of the action consisting largely of some woefully inept fighting by the big guys. 1-0 Sandstorm.

The second drive of the half was notable for some great examples of the gang fouling for which the KPL is infamous. Both teams setting up 7+ man fouls to get the crowd going again after the fairly sedate action of the Sandstorm drive.

So 1-0 at the half, the teams staggered out again, the Sandstorm looking fragile with no reserves left and only 2 out of the original 3 big guys remaining; Zaarg the Dust Giant unable to recover from the brutal foul he'd just been subjected to. A short kick landing on the Serqets' weaker side put instant pressure on the ball with Khok'tap there ready to shamble forward steal it. Fearing the bombs of Tossit the Untrustworthy more than the big hand of Khok'tap the Serqets' Ushabti elected to topple forward and smother him rather than protect the ball. Khok'tap did his thing only to be surfed into the crowd moments later after some great teamwork between the Serquets' two Morbids, one of whom then suffered the same fate.

The rest of the game comprised entirely of insane Sandstorm Dust Goblins throwing themselves at whichever member of the Serqets managed to pick up the ball. Eventually all the Serqets' ball handlers were off the pitch along with almost the entire Sandstorm team. It all came down to the Serqets' Ushabti, could he pick the ball up and score unopposed? Try as he might he lacked the flexibility to bend down, his arms waving uselessly a foot above the ball.

1-0 to the Sandstorm.

The team is not ready for the KPL. Coach SnorkelWanted attempted to retire undefeated as coach after Dust Bowl 2020 to avoid the impending disaster but was reminded of the "'till death do us part" clause in the contract he'd signed and elected to see if he couldn't turn it around after all...”
