We won the toss and was contemplating kicking to force the elves to play in the rain but we decided to stick with our normal elf game plan and try and hurt as many as possible while grinding up the pitch in front of a riotous crowd.
The Pythons set up and started hitting elves while Bo managed to pick up first time. He had obviously been training this week after his horror show in the last game and the threats coming from the crowd obviously motivated him.
We managed to cage up in the center and stated trying to remove elves but nothing seemed to work and we ended up getting bogged down and swarmed in the center as a foul cost us a player sent off.
Luckily Bo was up for a game and we managed to block a hole for him to run down and the elvish attempts to stop him were thwarted and we managed to score.
Second Half Elves receives and didn't manage to pick up in the rain as the Pythons charged forward to swarm the ball. A massive muddy scrum took place as the ball was dropped and bounced all over but slowly towards the elves own endzone before Bo managed to pick up and run it in.
The Elves still had time to score and they finally managed to pick up the ball but then dropped the catch leading to another massive scrum which lasted to the end of the game.
This was a weird game. The elves ball handling was awful (Like Bo last game) meanwhile Bo earned his wage by playing a flawless game. There was also so little blood and in fact the only casualty was our own Brian. We got so many elves down but all we managed were a couple of KO's, most coming in the last turn. We need to improve our blocking and removing if we are going to get a good win streak together.
But this was a fun game against a lovely opponent who took the rubbish pick up dice like a champ (Love to see elves failing pick ups!) GG”
