#11 Onquer – Dead (RIP)
Any chance of being promoted in our first season nose-dived in this game. Well played Arta.. too good today mate. It started well enough first block of the game Ra-Hel BH his Drysd. It went down hill from there. After a reasonable setup for the first drive, a very stupid play without having picked the ball up yet resulted in a turnover and no rerolls for the rest of the half I might add. Little Ballpoker did the rest dashing down the field and picking up the ball from under the nose of Karesh Var before calmly dodging out for the TD. Onquer was killed before the Touchdown, with Coach Anu..waving away the Apothecary in part due to Onquers already fragile skull. Doubts started to creep in. Perhaps a lesson to not play when your really not in the mood. The Reply was decidedly Elfish.. Talaban and Karesh Var dangerously skirting the sidelines for a TD connection in the corner. Perceptive fellow that I am It only occured to me with a failed pass in the second half that it was very sunny today. So to say this play was very lucky would be an understatment. The rest of the half involved some wily coaching with ArtaXerxes slowing the play down to his liking and proceeding to throw as many blocks as possible while guarding the ball with his life. I did infact free up the ball.. but sadly for the "Echoes" it landed in the grateful hands of bloody Ratpoker. On a key aside Ammon was KO'd late in this drive and his tackling ability was sorely missed for the rest of the match. The second half was a mixed bag.. given half a chance by a badly failed blitz action, the "Echoes" boys swooped on the loose ball falling over with it in site before seeing it sprinted up the field by those speedy skinks. Talaban's almost single handed display in getting the ball back inspired the boys and we hoped once more. The ball found its way down the other end.. and now it was two elven Lineman included Karesh Var up against 2 skinks.. as the rest of the Fast Fossils were tied up elsewhere down the pitch. A desperate Blitzing action from Grasstomper on Shalik saw me take the BD instead of a push back. Which looked to be a stroke of genious as Karesh Var calmly leaped to the ball, hooked it under his arm and headed for the endzone. Sadly he failed in trying to make the one Go For It for the tieing Touchdown, and following a 3 turn scramble and excellent defensive work from the Fossils, Sadly the game was lost. Again more was learnt in defeat than from our previous victories (Though who said I wanted to learn), with some very interesting setups, combined with a poor frame of mind, throwing me off, and culminating in that crucial failed GFI. Good Game Arta.. and goodluck for promotion hope to play you in the future with a more mature side, and with a lions share of the luck maybe.

Twahnlow Votes:

3 Votes to #2 "Vrool"- Surprisingly maybe for a Saurus without a Casualty.. but all 11 of his blocks were quality. He broke tackles well, and setup the team well with some excellent blitzes. His KO'ing of Ammon may have been the most telling block in the game.

2 Votes to #4 "Gidush"- Responsible for the Blood that littered the wide zone. RIP Onquer.

1 Vote to #8 "Grassstomper"- This wily Skink caused many problems not least of all due to the forgetfulness of the "Echoes" coach to recall his penchant for diving tackles. Was in the mix at the end preventing the tieing TD.

Well the game plan all went wrong after the kick as Ra-Hel (Treeman) sent Drysd back to the rooms with a badly hurt kidney... thankfully he'll be back next game. That, combined with 3 players spending much of the game on the potty rather than on the field...

Game then settled down with a conservative rushed TD by the fossils, followed by a typical long pass TD by those nimble Singers (of course, 2 players on the side-lines was an exciting prospect for the Fossils should the ball go astray).

A key turning point in the game was a 2nd half play when the fossils failed to gather the ball in their own half, then next turn blocked with a skillless Saurii (bad coach, bad boy). However, the Songbirds failed at then critical moment, falling from a GFI in the end-zone . A lucky escape for the Fossils.

Well played RB for pushing us all the way.

Twahnlow votes:
3 - Karesh Var - for doing all the good elvish stuff with the ball, plus blocking
2 - Talaban - scored and lots of ball pressure (good game for any other player, but average for a War Dancer?)
1 - Ra-Hel - Typical blocking, notworthy for removing Kroxigor with first attempt.
