Chat, and the death of the social

Ok, I don't like to complain (ok, I do, but that's to one side), but I've played about 5 or 6 games in a row when the opponent HAS NOT SAID A DAMN WORD all game, even when I have said hello, gratz, and made conversation.

Seriously, folks - how hard is it to be friendly and chat a little. I realize that once in a while there will be someone who does not speak English (but I try with my little French and Spanish too), or perhaps is playing on an iPhone or similar and thus can't chat, but surely most of us can try to be civil and ENJOY the game?

It's a game, let's have fun and make it social.
