“You win one regional and the crowd goes wild” - Coach Datom of the Sartosa Black Flags

If there is one team across all these Qualifiers who I would put down firmly as the Dark Horse of this competition, it would be the Sartosa Black Flags. For a team that for the vast majority of its career has had a stable and yet not overly exciting or extraordinary performance they have garnered quite a lot of support as of late. It could be the fact that people are starting to pay attention to the selection of scary and well honed players on the squad, it could also possibly be that the coach at their head is one who knows his way around the ball and has beaten a few scary teams in the process. Or it could be the part that for the first time in two years they singlehandedly broke the hegemony that the Tor Anroc Anglers had over the Great Ocean region, with a thunderous 5-2 victory that saw the normally dominant and seemingly invincible Sea Elf side utterly humiliated on the pitch, a game that ultimately led to their retirement. So are they a flash in the pan or a gathering storm? That’s for them to decide.

And over here we have The Sheik Plus 14 Other Guys. Sorry I mean Nejaz Djinn, a team that as of a few days ago now possesses the player who has become the league’s first Legendary player. The Sheik has the most TDs in the league, this is all you really need to know. There are a good few players on this team that are quite possibly as important to keep an eye on, such as Tamid Boulous the +ST Super Star Dervish and a coach who has played his team well for the past 3 years of the league but the Sheik is not a player on this team, the Sheik IS this team that is how well known he is. The real question is with all the teams that will be gunning for him specifically, will he make it out of this competition in time to be rewarded for his legendary status?

At the very top of that list is a team that is not only infamous for their murder rate, but is actually required to by the specific circumstances of their team to commit murder, so may I present the Malignant Curators. Malal doesn’t offer much in the way of players to recruit, so the entire ‘gimmick’ behind their team is that they must ‘borrow’ their players from other teams and the borrowing process tends to be rather fatal for the player in particular. In this bracket there are multiple teams that have have strong star players that are also fairly squishy in the armour department, the exact kind of situation where the foul happy Malal troupe thrives in. And so in a division of killers both figuratively and literally, the black and white spectres of the God of Anarchy are some of the most notorious of the bunch. In such a circumstances, we would advise investing in wandering apothecaries, just in case.
