Scribbl Climax IX
Text by Nigel Likely, Graphic by Predictatron

Well this is awkward, the Predictatron had named the Malefic Mimes as the most likely to win Qualifier IX, however much like their namesake they left as quietly as they arrived. So in that case the most likely to win therefore falls to-
The Norscan Curse, and they are a real odd hat within this division at large mostly because they are a high value side, in a division full of Low to Low-Middle TV teams. That high TV value is what a lot of people probably saw and immediately lent towards because they have a good 400-500 TV on most teams in the division how could they not be easily better than the other teams? And the answer is the Norscan Curse has played over 38 games and lost 29 of them. Yes under that team value is a very sad and unfortunate history of a team that for a lot of the time wasn’t really that good in the grand scheme of things, so much so that they’ve been even given a leg up in the league with some buffs to the Syreens on the team. All of this comes together to form a team that is the biggest underdog in CIBBL history. So maybe some votes looked at the TV rather than the performance, but it’s just as likely that those voters are ardent and fervoured supporters of these salty underdogs.
Compare and contrast with the new 2nd place team, Vlad’s Vampheroes a team that is one of the newer teams that joined at the tail end of Winter 2603 and yet so far has only lost a single game. Very impressive in the circumstances considering the region the teams they had to face in Sylvania when Spring rolled about, and although for the most part the history of Von Carstein teams is a little on the short lived side, these gents seem to be sticking around for the long haul. Will their hot streak continue to an overall victory over the other fresh new faces (and one really old and mouldy face) in the league or will the honeymoon period grind to a screeching halt?
Every season of CIBBL sees at least a few new teams enter the fold, for every team that sees retirement a few more take their place. And one team found itself very lucky - or unlucky - to be the first past the door to take a suddenly vacant slot in a division a little higher than their pay grade of zero games played. Brehon’s Lament joins the league as the newest team to represent Albion, one of those teams that has had a few names under its banner come and go since they are a little, odd to play around with their big bodies that can’t hold the ball and small pixies who can’t take a punch, but it is to be hoped that just like the Four Nations under Ynys Morlon, there will be one coach who will take the ball and run with it regardless of the results. After all I’d like to see a full Albion/Norsca region for once.
