The Invitation (Page 1)
In the dead of the night a dark rider was sighted in the outskirts of Finnsvik. So formidable was the steed and ominous their presence that the guards sent out a runner to inform the Jarl of Finnsvik before the rider even got to the outer gates. The messenger got to the Great Doors of the city hall where the guards prevented her from entering, but they forwarded the word to the bodyguards inside. Soon enough the messenger heard her leader bellowing inside and stepped back from the doors. Jarl Mesikaemmen pushed the doors open and still wrapping a thick bearfur around him. The messenger noticed that two bodyguards were following their master seemingly carrying his battle gear.
"Show me the way girl" The Jarl ordered.
"Yes, my liege!" She answered and started running back to the main gates.
They didn't get far when they saw the gates opening.
"By the five Gods what are they doing!" Mesikaemmen cursed and increased the pace.
A large figure moved inside the bulwark and even the Jarl seemed to hesitate a few seconds the other runners thought. How could such a monster get inside, seemingly, without meeting any resistance from the gatekeepers?
