G'Kar, portayed by one of the best actors in B5, Andreas Katsulas, was one of my favourite characters of the whole show. What follows are some of my favourite quotes of G'Kar.

Babylon 5 won't be same without him.

Rest In Peace.

=========

"No-one here, is exactly what he appears."

"I am both terrified and reassured, to know that there are still wonders in the universum. That we have not yet...explained...everything."

"Everything out there has only one purpose. To distract us from ourselves. From what is truly important. There are no distractions from here. You can learn much from silence."

"'Some must be sacrificed for all to be saved.' First I took that as a revelation for the future. Now I see that it is as much about how we got here as about where we are going. I think that one sentence is the greatest burden I have ever known."

"I will vouch for his character! I saw the entire thing .. because I was there. I was in it. I was .. And they made a very agreeable thump. Or did I mention that?"

"I would remind the Drazi ambassador that the Centauri Republic has already signed the declaration. And if the Centauri can sign it, anybody can sign it."
"That's right. ..Hey wait a minute."

"The universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice. The language is not Narn or Human or Centauri or Gaim or Minbari. It speaks in the language of hope. It speaks in the language of trust. It speaks in the language of strength and the language of compassion. It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors speaking through us and the voice of our inheritors waiting to be born. The small, still voice that says: 'We are one. No matter the blood, no matter the skin, no matter the world, no matter the star. .. We are one. No matter the pain, no matter the darkness, no matter the loss, no matter the fear. .. We are one.' Here, gathered together in common cause, we begin to realize this singular truth and this singular rule that we must be kind to one another. Because each voice enriches us and ennobles us and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of the universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light our way to a better future. We are one."

"I have seen what power does, and I have seen what power costs. The one is never equal to the other."

"Why does any advanced civilization seek to destroy a less advanced one? Because the land is strategically valuable, because there are resources that can be cultivated and exploited, but most of all, simply because they can."

"No dictator, no invader, can hold an imprisoned population by the force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power governments, and tyrants, and armies can not stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be *free*."

"It was the end of the Earth year 2260, and the war had paused, suddenly and unexpectedly. All around us, it was as if the universe were holding its breath, waiting. All of life can be broken down into moments of transition or moments .. of revelation. This had the feeling of both."
"G'Quon wrote: There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope. The death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting in moments of ctransition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future, or where it will take us. We know only that it is always paved in pain."

"I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station, when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone .. our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit .. that the part of me that is going .. will very much miss the part of you that is staying."

"Tell me minister - if I were to strike you, which would you be angry at; the hand that struck you - or the heart that commanded the hand to strike?... The hand has no choice but to do as it is told, it is the hreart that carries that burden. But everyone knows the true source of pain is neither the hand nor the heart - it is the mouth, is it not?"
