The sight of the black sails of Malekith's minions are more commonly associated with piracy and pillage rather than door-to-door salesmen, and while the knife-makers are confident in the quality of their product, a venue for first-hand product demonstration that doesn't involve the prospective buyer fleeing in terror behind the safety of castle walls is difficult to find.
