My coach bio getting way to long, so will be edited down or tidied up soonish. While I'm adding this to it I'd like to add something else too.

If you play in a league with me and need friendly against a league team to get you up to a cap or something, I have these teams available:
Guiles' VG Heroes
Brown Pants
They happily play any game no matter how daunting. Just catch me in IRC or PM for a game against them and we can set it up.

I think I could probably be a quite a lot better, than I am at Blood Bowl, but I just don't care enough. While some people seem to have to win to be happy and want to play more, this just isn't the case with me. While I doubt I've played many especially good coaches on FUMBBL I'd say the standard is pretty high. When I have played guys who I think are good and clearly in another league to myself (to the point of almost playing an entirely different game) it reminds me how bad I am and just how switched on some of the guys are on here. I've found a level I'm happy with and enjoy playing in leagues with a bit of ranked. If I get better from here on, it's not going to be by dedication, it'll be by getting outclassed time and time again, with little bits of information finding their way into my addled mind by chance. I enjoy playing on FUMBBL and I hope everyone else does too.

I used to play Blood Bowl over 15 years ago with a couple of friends. We just played one off games here and there and never did league play or anything like that. When I found FUMBBL I was amazed that someone could provide such a comprehensive way to play Blood Bowl for free. From playing on FUMBBL I've experienced building teams up to have many multi-skilled players and playing under the new rules which are much better than the old second edition rules I'd known before. It's taken me a long time and a lot of games to feel comfortable about most things that can and do happen during a game. While I'm still not that much cop at the game, I really do feel that I've improved a lot.

It's taken me a long time to feel that I can win games against decent coaches in reasonabley fair match-ups. Before I used to just play allsorts, which gave me a grounding in how all the races play against the races I like to play as. Because I've taken many hidings and have made many many mistakes that have cost me wins, draws and players lives, I think I can at last articulate my thoughts on some of the more contentious issues that are often covered in the forums and blogs.

Stalling:
At first I was stalled on and I never stalled - I think this was due to me not really being able to compete for games and also because I used to attack the line too much and not cover the backfield enough.

I got stalled on less but still didn't stall - I started to cover the backfield (learning from my mistakes) but I found the block battle was harder to win and I often didn't take the right skills to get at the ball. I was still rubbish at this point too, so I never had the chance to stall really.

I got stalled on occaisionally and I stalled too when possible - At this point I think I'd learnt to better defend the backfield, block the line and position players to make my opponent then do things that I expected and could most likely respond too. I don't think this can be done in every game however and just comes from experience as much as anything. Taking neccessary skills, maximising blocks, threatening the ball and taking the right risks at the right time are all vital to playing better D. When it's not your day though just accept it graciously and try not to let your opponent have it too easy no matter how dissapointed you are at what's happening.

Crowd Pushing:
To be honest, I don't think this even is a conentious issue. I think that like in a boxing match where they say 'styles make fights' so this is also true in Blood Bowl. I have learnt that sometimes you have to accept your backfield will be breached easily on defence and it's just a case of where you let them, or force them to go. If you send them wide then they'll be at risk of getting crowd pushed. If they decline your offer of going wide then they have to come staright at all your guys and you can then surround them. So really I think crowd pushing is more about the 'pushee' than the 'pusher'.

Because I play mainly agility/elfy races I don't offen have frenzy players unless i get buzzing or something but on occaision I do still get to trap a guy to the sideline and threaten the push. A lesson I have learned all too often, in my time learning the game, is to watch for these frenzy players on set-up/kick-off. If you leave them a shot to put you one guy down (and maybe even kill him) by crowd pushing then they'd be mad not to do it. It's why they bothered to give him that skill in the first place right? To quote 'Pac' on crowd pushing, "the fans love being fed players! You're more likely to roll a 6 on FF if you feed them :D" though thats's not entirely true, it should be and also it's just plain funny IMO.

Fouling:
I didn't foul much - When I started I was just gratefull to get a game from other coaches who'd let me have time to think and who wouldn't try to ruin me when I was playing poorly. This is what Academy is for IMHO and I'm thankfull to all those who played me while I was a total noob.

I got fouled more but didn't foul back - Due to the fact I play mainly agility races I never wanted to lose players to being sent off and would rather take the fouls and hope the eye on them would stop it becoming pandemic in the game. This was when I moved out of Academy more, with slightly better teams that I'd built up in there. While I thought it was harsh sometimes, I never complained. Looking back, it introduced me to something that's part of the game and is now something I both expect to do and to have done to me. Without this learning curve I'd get very upset in Ranked now.

Fouling... what's wrong with that? - I think you can foul for many reasons and sometimes for no reason too;

* If they stall on you and you don't want to expose someone while trying to force the ball carrier, you can block and foul their players not near the staller and his crew.

* If a really good opposition player hits the deck and will trouble you for the rest of the game then foul him up. If you don't you must be mad... or just not have enough disposable players in your squad to feel comfortable doing it (although I probably still think you should do it. It's well worth having at least one D.P. for these moments or at least an extra lineman or two so the sending off won't effect you too much).

* If you want to try and keep a player advantage to lessen block impact and help your players survive the rigours of a game of Blood Bowl, then foul a bit. The more players you remove to the injury boxes the more chance you have of removing yet more. Even If they only goto the K.O. box it still means they have to roll to return by which time someone else should be in there to take their place.

* If you want to throw a coach who's playing better than you expected but seems too attatched to his players then foul him a bit and see what happens.

* If you want to stall against someone because you've totaly out-manouvered them and try to get some more CAS for +FF or for SPP's to skill a player, then fouling can be worth it to make them go for the ball so you can then bash the poor guy that tries it (n.b. if they just lay there to let you score, you want the CAS and the SPP's for the CAS and you don't want to take the blocks to your unskilled linemen on kick-off, then i suggest fouling as they're giving you no chance for the SPP's you need (and IMO they should consider conceeding and giving you all the gate money if they don't like the spot they've got themselves in). Also they most-likely rushed your line too much and didn't cover the backfield in a hope to out block you and thus hurt YOUR players. They wanted to get you down to less guys by poor intimidation tactics and when it didn't work they then expect you to be nice about it. If they'd got what they wanted at first, had hurt your guys and removed them then they wouldn't do you the same favour and so I think they get what they deserve... so FOUL THESE GUYS UP BAD!!! These are the ones who'll moan about fouling and just won't accept it was their fault by trying to bash you up bad beacause they know no other way. They will learn though and if they don't then they'll be very whiney, unhappy Blood Bowlers/FUMBBLers forever).

* There are other times fouling is worth it but those were a few I'd experience from playing my agility/elfy types. Also you will read that good coaches only foul certain skilled/positional players and won't bother with just linemen. I think this is wrong personally. Any player off the field is a good thing in certain games, with and against certain teams. However, I don't recommend becoming a person who fouls every turn as there are some right nutters out there and the result of it will not be good for either of your teams (but most likely your team).

* Oh... Oh... there's one more time to foul too. When you're playing someone... they're not having much luck... they're not playing too well either though... they keep calling you a lucker when all you're doing is playing how you play... and they constantly whine about 'Nuffle hate's me' this and 'I always roll 1's' that... 'I hate Blood Bowl'... 'Life's so unfair'... and generally ruining your fun in a game both coaches accepted openly.......... FOUL, FOUL, FOUL, FOUL, FOUL, and FOUL some more... did i say FOUL already? :P This attitude also goes for coaches who accept a game with you... make mistakes... realise they can't win it early on... and say nothing to you... not even a friendly 'Grats' when you score (no matter how not genuine it is)... FOUL these guys too. They wanted everything to go their way and when it didn't they can't accept it. IMO they should realise that if they're nice to the other coach, converse and joke about stuff, then he'll most likely not rub it in too bad, will just score some TD's, get their two CAS and leave it at that. Not being a bad loser myself and being self depricating to the extreme when I'm donkeying up a game, I have found that this works well against most coaches (because IMO most coaches on FUMBBL are decent people, have been there too and appreciate you not ruining their fun while winning, by constantly whining like a little b*tch).

So party on dudes :) and don't take the game so seriously. As 'Chewie' says... 'Blood Bowl is a comedy game and should be enjoyed if you're going to play it'. IMO, few wiser words have been spoken about the game we all love... the mighty Blood Bowl.

Check out my opponents TD on Turn 8 of the first-half. I've seen it tried but never done and have to say it was pure class. Never even considered it a possibility until he did it. Doh! (Replay)

Steel Assassins 3 - 3 Rompehierros del Norte - Talk about coming back from the dead. Lost my best player to niggle and at 2-0 down at HT i came back for a draw but at one point looked like I might go 3-2 up and then win. Mis-count on squares while moving a lineman under a blitz and not next to it cost me this I think. Doh. But still a feat as I thought I was on for a tonking at HT.

BTW I don't do games via PM's. Get IRC and I can refuse your offer much faster :P

Because I play mainly agility type teams I've often avoided Khemri and their like. But yesterday I had to play some in a [L]eague and I have to say it was a hoot. Though I lost I really enjoyed the game. The fun was also due to my opponent (thereisaball)who's a cool guy and I hope I play him again sometime.

I noticed today that the site where I have my bigger pictures hosted has shut down and taken them with them it seems. This means some of my teams have blank links in them. I intend to sort this over the next few days. Sorry for any inconvenience.
