Onchú was a young dwarf when the forces of chaos came to his village. He watched the beastmen stride among the huts and kill everyone he knew, everyone he cared for. The experience shattered his already fragile mind. When he was found, awash with blood, seated atop a pile of corpses, he had beheaded one of the beastmen who had attacked his village, and was wearing the creatures skull as a helmet. From that day Onchú has carried the name 'Beast', and worn horns in mockery of those befouled creatures he most hates.

After a string of injuries, retirements and deaths the Ruffians had exhausted their squad depth of hopeful Runners. But for some a crisis is best seen as an opportunity, and so into the role stepped Robhartach, a young dwarf with ambition who had worked his way up in the Ruffians organisation from boot-studder to dug-out cleaner, to towel-carrier to water-boy. When he approached coach Redgum and put his name forward for the vacant spot her heard the smirks and chortles in the room, but coach Redgum just looked at him, eyes set hard and serious, then he looked around and said: 'Kid, I don't see anyone else around. The gig's yours for as long as you last.'

Lóegaire is too old for this, but he knows no other way, no other life. His long gray beard is a testament to the many years he has survived when so many others were dying. An inaugural member of the Ruffians.

Máedóc believes his shaved head gives him power. He regularly shaves himself with the razor-sharp blade of his war-ax. So proud is he of his tough image that he often goes into battle without a helmet. His team-mates speculate that this is a cynical attempt to attract attention and offer it as an explanation for his uncanny number of MVP awards.

Originally hired under the Anglicised name 'Corey Clumsyrock', Cúmhaí made the most of his opportunity and was awarded MVP in the Ruffians' 3-1 win over the Harlequins early in Season XLIX. So impressive was his debut that it earnt him a permanent place on the Ruffians roster.

Coilin came late to the Rabble cause, sneaking onto the team as a journeyman under the assumed name of Ulric Whitetree but proving himself so valuable that he was hired to become a permanent part of the roster. Coilin is a bit ahead of his development in terms of how he perceives his importance to the team. He's often seen in earnest discussion with Cadeyrn regarding how the team should be led, or giving Faelan some tips on how best to carry the ball.
