Blitz Magazine starts off our interview series with an in depth chat with the current number one coach in all the lands... Mr. Jack Daniels.

<Synn> First of all Jack.... thank you very much for your time. Recently.... you were the first ever winner of the Lustrian Challenge. Tell me... which of the matches do you feel was the toughest going into?

<Jack_Daniels> Obviously the one vs pac. He almost kicked me out and i think everyone (including me) thought so after he scored 2-1 in turn 14

<Synn> That game was your highest score in the LC. Do you think your prior tourney experience helped you cope with being down 2-1?

<Jack_Daniels> Both played very well till that point. My defense worked because I didn’t rush for the ball and had and eye on my backfield. I finally got a 2db blitz on his ball carrier. After that has failed only luck helped me out. After all I made it to only 1 major before LC.

<Synn>Yes, you only made it to one major...but you won ten SMACKs with that team alone and the XFL Dorfs. Would you trade all those SMACK titles in for a major win?

<Jack_Daniels> XFL dorfs and SMACKs are pretty much the same set ups. Mostly bashy teams fighting against each other. I am used to that. In the LC I had to face 3 elf teams what I feared the most because you don’t play dwarf vs. elf and a wizard often.

<Synn> You would agree that wizards are a dorf's worst enemy?

<Jack_Daniels> definitely. I was surprised that some coaches didn’t hire one. Instead they hired freebooters or stars. in the final for example I was sure toriel would get wizard + bomber, give me the offense and go for 1-0

<Synn> Well... its so hard to argue against Morg! Since you brought them up, elves have dominated the tourney scene like no other race. Before you... they won the last 6 majors. How does it feel to have ended their run?

<Jack_Daniels> First of all morg vs. 3 players with dauntless, lot’s of guard and st4 players doesn’t seem like the best choice for me. We’ll never know... it feels very good to end this. I am convinced they weren’t dominating majors because bashers are bad, but many coaches of bashy teams are not used to play against them and make unnecessary mistakes.

<Synn> If you had to give one piece of advice to a basher playing an elven team.... what would it be?

<Jack_Daniels> On your offense stall 8 turns and protect vs. wizard by setting up multiple layers of tackle zones and don’t run in the opponents half with most of your players. Get 1-2 players to put some pressure on the thrower and watch your backfield. Worst thing that can happen is if elves can stall on their offense. The second worst thing is on defense of course.

<Synn> Sounds logical. Now you have achieved the number one ranking on Fumbbl. What is your next goal?

<Jack_Daniels> I know some people don’t like CR but now I am over 200 I want to set a new CR record. So I am waiting for the FC right now.
