Big Beast Battle: California Golden Lizards (4-1-2) vs Nibraskah Wanabees (5-0-3)

The Lizards and Wanabees met least year during conference play after Nibraskah had been promoted from the Non-AQ to fill an open spot. The two teams fought back and forth to control the ball and attempt a score, but any and all efforts to do so ended in failure, resulting in a 0-0 tie. This year, Nibraskah started out 5-0 but back-2-back losses against Mizzou (2-3) and Pain (0-2) all-but eliminated their hope for a national championship; likewise, the player injuries they suffered in the process has started to take its toll. Cal has had a decent season thus far, beating a bunch of scrubs and losing to top teams like Oregon and Pain (the two teams likely to be in the title game.) For the Lizards to make a bid for a top-tier bowl game, they would have to finally beat a solid program this season, and they weren't going to miss their chance.

The game started with Nibraskah getting three handis (bad press, Greatest, and knuckledusters,) in addition to receiving the ball. They had a cage set up around their best gutter runner, in addition to having a second option on the opposite side of the field. But a failed pickup in the backfield let Cal get several of their big line-lizards around the ball, in addition to BHing a rat lino (and dropping Nib to 10.) But a blitz by a dauntless gutter left only 1 TZ on the ball, and the skaven thrower redeemed himself by picking it up, dodging away and through the defense, then throwing a strike to his open target for a score. But this was only a turn 3 score, so Cal had a ton of time to beat the tar out of the smelly rats. And with another two casualties on their offensive drive, that's exactly what they did (including the st3 ag5 gutter,) eventually leading to a score to end the half.

Score at the half- Cal 1 : 1 Nib

With only eight...maybe seven players left, Nibraskah took the field on defense and hoped to create enough chaos in the backfield to steal a score and perhaps even the game. They almost pulled it off thanks to a failed pickup by cal + gutter leap + pickup in two TZ, but thankfully the sneaky skill known as diving tackle (probably the key to the game,) stopped the brave gutter from dodging away and then throwing the ball to an open friend in the backfield. From then on, Cal protected the ball fairly well and slowly bashed their way to a 2-1 victory, holding Nib in their final drive that started with 3 turns left.

Final Score- Cal 2: 1 Nib

The three BH and numerous diving tackle skinks were the real difference in this game, holding the Wanabees to a mere 12 blocks. Cal was able to protect the ball fairly well, resulting in clock-chewing ball control that won them the game. With the victory, the Lizards have improved to 5-1-2 and has a HUGE rivalry game with Missouri to finish conference play. The game very well could decide who plays in the Rose Bowl, as well as being a rematch from Mizzou's only regular-season loss last year (their other loss in the season was in the title game vs UCon.) Nibraskah, meanwhile, still has a solid 5 wins and finishes up with a tough game vs Hawaii. The winner of the game could also play in the Rose Bowl, or perhaps the Orange bowl. The best thing both sides can say about this game was that there were no permament injuries, as well as both sides getting 70k winnings. Nibraskah, being a young team, is looking to recruit some depth for another title-run next year (as the team will only have juniors at best,) while Cal continues to build their funds to replace their five senior-saurri once the season is over (or possibly in the bowl game.)

A GG by sleepy who could have used a few more good rolls to take advantage of the opportunities he got (especially the leap+pickup, as the pass to the open gutter could have easily lead to a score.) Best of luck with the rest of your season.

Well i could have likely (about 95% chance,) have stalled for the entire second half and left it tied 2-2, since there were only five elves on the field. I decided to score with 2 of my turns left (so 3 for mizzou,) and was banking on most of the 7 KOs not coming back. But 4 of them did, and even another blitz + a solid defense couldn't prevent an ag5 leaper from escaping (dt skink had him but dodge RR out of it.)

More or less I went for the win because playing for the tie isn't how we do it in the Beast. Go big or go home, as they say. Besides, if I lost, I would get an easier bowl game, and I damn sure need to finally win one. If i could have figured out how to OTT at the end of either half, I might have gotten a win/tie. But in the end, I didn't, and that's the risk I took.

And as for the kill on Turk, it came on the blitz result on the kickoff after I tied it up (apparently this was nuffle's way of rewarding me for playing for the win.) I'm pretty sure it was the beast known as Anthony Killer, although it could have been his running mate Spencer Laggar. I'm certainly going to miss these senior saurri, but hopefully I can send them out on a winning note Very Happy

And yes, I can't wait to see what these guys could do in the nbfl, though I'd crap my pants if the ATL drafted them to beat up on the Aints!!!

BREAKING NEWS

A player from Mizzou was caught practicing illegal 'keg stands' in the dormitories.

Never one for teamwork, this athlete was discovered by himself.

Image

Reports are surfacing that the player will be subjected to a grueling regime of hardy slaps on the back before the bowl games begin.

Current bowl standings according the RFAdvantage math system
(*note TT while being ranked 8th will be dropped in favor of rewarding a deserving non-AQ team, due to rumors of cheating by still being alive*)

BCS Title GameImage
#1 Oregon 9-0-0 (.943)
~ No question about it Oregon will be the favorite to win the title this season.
vs.
#2 Painstate 7-2-0 (.895)
~ The Painboys are our pick for the BCS title game having a zero loss record and having won the head to head with #3 Missou.

Rose BowlImage
#3 Missou 7-1-1 (.873)
~ The top TD differential team in the league, the two – hand touchers are considered by most to be one of the scariest teams to play in the NCBB.
vs.
#4 Clemson 6-1-2 (.777)
~ The terrors finished out their season with a strong win and justify their position in the Rose bowl.

DeadEx Orange BowlImage
#5 U.Con 6-0-3 (.755)
~ The huskies fall off in a major way after winning it all last season, 3 losses and they were lucky to get into the DeadEx.
vs.
#6 Nib 6-0-3 (.748)
~ The Wannabees are into their 1st major bowl game and the RFA predicts this to be the closest game of the bowl season.

Tossit-os Fiesta BowlImage
#7 Cali 5-1-3 (.731)
~ The lizards are moving up in the world this season they are into the Fiesta bowl, and are marginal favorites over…
vs.
#9 Hawaii 4-2-3 (.678)
~ HU looked better early in the season but ended up in the lower echelon of bowls, they should be in for a good game against the lizards.

Killer Lite BowlImage
#10 GG 4-1-4 (.634)
~ GG was a top team at the beginning of the season, but ended with too many losses to be in one of the majors.
vs.
Unranked* Noise State 5-0-0 (unrated*)
~ Noise has proven to be the best looking team of the non-AQ this season. We would like to see them finish out their schedule and then get into the Killer Lite, this year destined to be quite Lite with GG and Noise.

Wonderbra BowlImage
#11 Navy 3-2-4 (.603)
~ The midskeletonmen proved to be the most dangerous team in the league with +17 cas this season and that won them some big games, and why they are ranked the highest we have seen them since the beginning of the RFA.
vs.
#12 Buffalo 2-1-6 (.493)
~ We have to admit the bull centaurs snuck into a bowl game more through the failure of others than their own successes this season

Goober Bowl & Da Nutz KupImageImage
#13 Vampy 1-2-6 (.454)
~ The suckers fall into a bowl by their one legitimate win, and will be favorites to be called goobers.
vs.
#14 BYU 3-0-6 (.443)
~ The kitties can thank their 3 forfeit wins for keeping them out of the McNurgles this season.

McNurgle's BowlImage
#15 Minni 0-3-6 (.443)
~ The gogres barely make it into the McNurgles by their 3 ties and no wins.
vs.
#16 DD 1-1-7 (.422)
~ The double Ds were our bottom suckers this season and are locks for the McNurgles Bowl!

Alright all, what are we going to do about the non-aq? We have two more games in our tourney and I'm guessing that'll be the end of the year for us since we're in the bowl games now. Everyone moves on to sophomores and we get ready for next year.

Problem is of the 5 games we crawled through to get here I have played a total of 3 whole games. Two forfeits really sucks for a new team since you get no $$$, no MVPs and worst of all you don't get the win Sad Should I just try to play hard this off-season to get more games under my belt and actually stand a chance next season or are we doing a second tourney for our teams freshman year?

CBBS Report: Bowl Game Announcements!!!

It's that time of year folks! Bowl season is upon us, and we have eight great matchups for NCBB fans to watch. Without further delay, here they are:

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293133.jpg">McNurgle's Bowl: Notre Daze (2-1-6) vs DD Tech (1-1-7)
The consolation bowl for the two lowest rated teams in the NCBB this season, the McNurgle's bowl features the lovely girls from DD Tech (who often find themselves on the bottom,) and the ugly, bearded dwarves from Notre Daze. These two teams met in O.o.C. play in week 3, where Notre Daze played ball control and doubled up DD in blocks on a way to a 1-0 win. In what is a clash of looks and styles, we'll see who can overcome their own pathetic-ness and build some momentum for next season.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/306225.jpg">Goober Bowl: Noise State (5-0-0)* vs Minni (0-3-6)
The Goober bowl features a Non-AQ team (Noise State,) and a perennial...well I'm not sure what we can call them outside of Gogres. Minni will be a huge challenge for these NCBB new-comers, but they've been resilient all season and look to cap off a great rookie season with a bowl victory.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293129.jpg"> Wonderbra Bowl: Buffalo (2-1-6) vs Vandy (1-2-6)
In a rematch from Smack 6 conference play, the Wonderbra bowl features two teams looking to reclaim past glory. Vandy has been a premier program in the NCBB, being 3-0 in bowl games the past three seasons. But they've fallen on hard times, losing countless players to injury and many games because of it. Meanwhile Buffalo has been in a tailspin ever since their season 6 Rose Bowl defeat at the wings of Oregon, in addition to their bowl loss last season (where they lost a great Bull Centaur and two other players to deaths,) and the opener this season (where they lost two more players to deaths.) When these two teams met a few rounds ago, Vandy was able to come away with a 2-1 victory, though it cost them dearly. It'll be interesting to see if Vandy's strategy of saving recruiting funds all season will pay off with their freshman class in the bowl game.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293131.jpg"> Killer Lite Bowl: Golden Gate (4-1-4) vs Navy (3-2-4)
The Killer Lite Bowl again welcomes the Midskeletonmen, who won this game in season 5 in epic t16 fashion (100% due to nuffle.) They will have a rematch with Golden Gate, who crushed Navy 4-1 during AKC conference play, though they lost several players in the process. It'll be interesting to see if the Navy defense can make any adjustments and contain the GG offense, otherwise Navy will be saying "GG" rather quickly.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293109.jpg">Tossit-os Fiesta Bowl: Cal (5-1-3) vs Hawaii (4-2-3)
A rematch from the 0-0 tie in the Big Beast opening round, Cal looks to correct it's 0-3 bowl record and send its senior class (5 saurri + 1 skink,) out as winners. But rumor has it that they plan to graduate a few of them early and get some promising freshlizards in the lineup. While this is a solid idea for the program's future, it might be disastrous against a talented Hawaii squad. Able to strike from just about anywhere, the 'Flyin Hawaiians' hope to have much better dice than last time (at least half a dozen double 1s,) and come out with a victory this time around.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293085.jpg">DeadEx Orange Bowl: UCon (6-0-3) vs Nibraskah (6-0-3)
In a battle of the declining vs the upcoming, UCon's goal of a title repeat were dashed in week 1 when they lost to big-beast member (and title game participant,) PainState 1-2. The Huskies will get a chance for revenge against another Beast member, Nibraskah, who had title aspirations of their own in their second season. But a string of injuries during the grind of the Beast wore the rats down, culminating in three straight losses before they outgunned Hawaii 4-3 in the final week. The senior-laden Huskies will have to find a way to contain (and hopefully kill,) Nibraskah's star player, Herger, who is in the running for numerous post-season awards.

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/293083.jpg">Rose Bowl: Mizzou (7-1-1) vs Clemson (6-1-2)
The Granddaddy of them all features a rematch from O.o.C. play, where Clemson's early-season ball-handling woes led to a massive blowout at the hands of the Tigers. But the slow start to the season didn't deter the Terrors, who swept the Smack 6 and are now in position to claim revenge. The Two-Hand-Touch-Tigers fell short in the title game last season, then had their hopes for another appearance go down the drain when they lost to PainState during Big Beast conference play. But when they took advantage of Cal's failed gamble last week (silly lizards went for the win rather than the sure tie,) they secured a meeting with Clemson and look to follow the same strategy as before in order to finally win a bowl game (0-2 as pro elves, 0-1 as chaos in season 5.)

<img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/292967.jpg">BCS National Championship: Oregon (9-0-0) vs PainState (7-2-0)
Oregon, the premier program in the NCBB the past three seasons (season 5 championship + back-2-back Rose Bowl victories) is finally back where they belong. But awaiting them is PainState, who has been on a mission since season 6 (where they lost the championship to a DE Michigan team,) to win the title while simultaneously taking down the damned elves who they believed (and rightfully so,) had taken over the league and rigged it against the lesser-agile races. Coach TodFa almost tripped up last week against Minni, but managed to tie them 1-1 and avoid a sticky situation where the polls could have dropped them below Mizzou (despite the H2H win,) for their futility (and probably validate their believe in elf-bias.) But that wasn't the case, so State gets one more chance to send out their massive senior class (7 or 8 players,) on top of the college football world. But Oregon is senior-laden as well, with six players looking to reclaim the glory they haven't seen since their freshmen year. All in all, it will be interesting to see if Pain can put their Beast experience to use (where they beat two elven and one skaven team by a combined scored of 6-1,) and shut down the Waterfoul.

Well there you have it folks! All eight awesome bowl matchups have been announced, and hopefully we'll have scheduled times for each pretty soon! Whether you agree with a team's placement or not, the only thing that matters now is how a team performs on the field. No more polls; no more SoS arguments; no more lizard bias! It's time to put up or shut up during bowl season!

Look for individual bowl game previews and predictions in the upcoming days.

Snippit of an interview with Coach McClean on the upcoming DeadEx Orange Bowl.
reporter "How do you feel about the invite to the Deadex Orange Bowl"
Coach McClean "Well it's not what we set out for at the beginning of the season but best we could hope for after the midseason collapse. It's the 2nd year in a row in the Orange bowl, and I suppose we need to win this before we can go for the gold"
Reporter "What do you think of Uconn and their coach"
Coach McClean "They had a few rough games but don't let that you fool yourself into a sense of complacency. This team is well balanced and well coached, hence the national trophy in the hallway."
Reporter "What do you think will be the key to the game"
Coach McClean "Well as always with this team, the more havoc we can control in the opposing side of the field usually means good things for us. We have some new players that need to get into the fold quick. And we have to hope for some miscommunication along the Uconn defense."

The title game is over! And boy what a game it was:

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3067246

PainState used the tried and true formula to hammer out a 2-1 win over Oregon in OT. Some tough untimely rolls for the Waterfoul, combined with countless KOs, BHs, and a few dead ducks eventually did them in. It was a well played game by both coaches, and congrats to them for great seasons. Congrats to Tod for sending his massive senior class out on top in the only way they wanted: bringing down the elves that they harbored so much hatred for.

Look for more reports from this and other games in the next few days.
