1. Have fun, that means do not judge fumbbl by one game.

2. Look at the coach you might play and their statistics tab. If you see they have twice as many fouls as their opponents or foul 2+ times per game, they might just be a foul machine type coach and if you do not want that, do not play them.

3 If you go in fouling like mad, do not be surprised if they foul back or try to crush you. YOU started the style of play and they finish it.

4. CR, coach rating is not that important. If they do have a good CR, they are probable a good coach but you can learn a lot by playing them. Look at #2 and #3 above. You may/probable loss but you can decide how that will happen and hopefully learn from it.

5. Do not go near the side line without side step or stand firm especially if you go against #3 and/or #4. Look at this link and the game played.

He went in and fouled like mad and bunched up on the sideline and got punished. It was his fault.

6. Bad luck happens. This means you can be playing an all orc team and suffer multiple deaths and stat decreases which sucks, but nuffle can be cruel. Suck it up.

7. Look at the "how to guide", it does help.

8. Practice makes better. Play more to get better. Almost all rookies have to learn the hard way in any sport to get better.

Hopefully this helps and have fun.

He never said it did, Lill-Leif!

For those of you newbies that don't want to play against certain kinds of opponents, know this: Every coach has a statistics page which you can get from their overview page. There you can see the style of play they have. Blocks per game, fouls per game, casualties caused and received. Some players also have written in their profiles what they like/dislike in games here. It's up to each individual coach to decide what kinds of games he/she wants to play here, and there are divisions and leagues that accomodate almost everyone. Explore, and enjoy this wonderful site Smile

Well a new coach might read §2, create and activate his bb team, then refuse to play.

#9. There is no you and they. You are FUMBBL, it is what you make of it.

2 fouls per game = foul machine? Chances are with 2-3 fouls/game average, there isn't a lot of fouling with the eye going on.

I foul at 2.67, and I'm not a very good fouler. Lots of people do much better.

I like #4. I think that should be a advice for old coaches too. If you dont play against high cr coaches you will never learn to improve your game.

Agreed: 2 fouls/game is the minimum for strategic fouling (only fouling when it's just a 1/6 sendoff roll). If they foul back that increases.

I agree that #2 is totally debatable.
Fouling, like all other strategies, can be applied and countered effectively or ineffectively, so the number in itself isn't really relevant in judging the danger-rate of an opponent.

As for the rest, quite an excellent post.

I'll throw in:

10. Find a smaller sub-community to join, maybe one based on your home country or native language, but could be something completely different. You'll get better advice and more support and solidarity in a smaller channel.

2+ fouls a game isnt a lot... I average almost 4 fouls per game, but I've been known not to foul even when I had the ref. When the game was all ready over... But then again, if I'm playying vs claw+rsc chaos or boring dwarves I might keep fouling as long as either of us have players on the field Very Happy
