On average, 1 out of every 6 casualties is a death, 2/6 is SI and 3/6 is BH.

When you look at past players, it's all the players that die and those that sustained serious injuries to the point that you decided to retire them.

As you accumulate casualties against, most BH and SI won't result in retirement (e.g., MNG or stat decreases that are deemed acceptable)... So, it should be reasonable to see a more heavy dose of "dead" in the past players categories.

Older teams (e.g., LRB4) that dealt with aging and annoying niggling injuries where players would miss the entire game yet their value still counted towards the TV lead to many more players being prematurely retired. Also teams that are "min-maxing" (trying to get the maximum strength out of the minimum TV) tend to retire a lot more players.
