Nicholas Babrant made it to Super Star and now he's ready to take a skill.

I use him almost exclusively for his Hypnotic Gaze for either freeing up thralls or for busting a cage wide open. As such he winds up in the TZ of baddies fairly often so I want to give him a positioning skill.

I lean Standfirm mostly because it can't be positioned out, it has to be skilled out.

Lorebass suggested Diving Tackle which I appreciate but I feel like thats a retirement party gift.

But I'd like to hear thoughts. I lack tackle but that'll be changing soonish, I hope.

I voted Side Step.
I have regretted taking Guard on Vamps but maybe it's just me.
Diving Tackle would be nice but better leave it for the legend skill if normal. If you take it now and roll another stat increase at Legend it would be kind of incomplete without SS or SF.

Don't "need" it on a Vampire team with 2 other AG5 vampires, a hynogaze with w/pro from either him or the Peter Loew does the trick.

Also, look for that on Caleb Colton III if he ever gets there.

SS is solid, but generic - it's time to start developing specialized roles for your Vamps. What role for this one, what role(s) does this team lack?

The +MA +Ag Vamp seems to be your ballcarrier (and defensive vacuum) - SH on Legend, but that's a looong way away. Do you need a SH Vamp sooner than later?

The +Ag Wrestle Vamp gets Tackle next, as your Sacker. BUT he'd be only your 2nd Tackler (and one has Pile On, so will be prone often) - is 1 1/2 Tacklers enough?

Is it time to get some Vamp Guards to better own the position game?

SS ~would~ give you someone to own the widezone, and a Blodgestepper can be a nightmare, and SS is always good for longevity - it's not off the list, just maybe(?) not the most pressing void to fill.

I dunno - I'd have to watch your games and playstyle.

Heh, yeah, no.

When choosing a skill, you want that skill to give the most to the Player and the Team.

Not only does 3x Ag 5 Hypnotic Eye make Leap totally unnecessary, but a Vamp team covets their RR's, and Leap, even 2+ Leap, tends to burn thru them.

It's not useless - a 2+ Leap all alone when the other Vamps are not within MA to help could be key - just, I'd think, not very often. And as a Super-star skill, without Tackle/Wrestle/Strip, and not on the #1 ballcarrier, not as powerful as it might be.

Tackle, guard, sidestep, frenzy, leap. All good options.
I'd go frenzy, leap, I think. Both synergize well with pro. If the oppo doesn't let you surf, you use him as a gazer, and restrict the opponent's options.. If he does: party!

Looks like you're on the same wavelength here in assessing what my team needs.

Surehands will be necessary at some point to counter those Stripballing Wardancers, et al.

Basically the Vampires positions as follows

+MA+AG: Ball Carrier, Ball Scooper - Surehands maybe although for 2 turn scores I'm sending him down the flank into scoring position. Pray for stats?

+AG Wrestle: Ball Carrier Sacker - Tackle, Dodge, Leap/Jump Up/Strip Ball/Poll

POMB: Killer - Jump Up

ST5: Glass Roadblock - Block, Standfirm

Block: Buff and Agile Human Blitzer - Dodge, Standfirm, Guard, Mighty Blow

And now 'Rasputin' who I made the poll about.

I decided to vote Guard, to help the Thralls. One well-placed St 4 Guard can make a world of diff in the position game, and I ~think~ the team would benefit most from having 1 they can call on.

(The Guard Thrall is nice, but is not a St 4 Ag 5 Blodger.)

SS for the Player, Guard for the Team. (But that's voting blind to your playstyle.) :/

Don't ask me about my playstyle, I have to reinvent it every single game Wink

In general, since I'm facing big nasties at this TV in Box and I get my fair share of KOs, I try to score quickly to bring back KOs and play killer defense which gets easier and easier with every Vampire skill.

Not only should this vamp get SS, all your others should too!

Well, this ~is~ a Box team, so Guard could put him in harm's way more often, while SS will spread more longevity love as well as its tactical value. :/

But a Guard who can move into place AND hand someone a 2+ Hypnotic Eye... yummy.
