5vs5 has a new rules page, so all the rules are in one place.
These rules aply to all 5vs5 groups unless otherwise stated on the individual group page.
Rules are now in force!

Across the known world Blood Bowl is played teams are often owned by rich businessmen and crime bosses. But what about the small guys? Shop owners, travelling merchants, street gangs, etc.
With less funds and contacts many aspiring coaches opt for the cheaper 5vs5 version of Blood Bowl, playing small local tournaments often referred to as instant tournaments.
The origins of 5vs5 have been lost over the years, indeed many leagues have blossomed and crumbled with the inevitable passing of time. But despite the highs and lows 5vs5 is still played to this very day.
Now you can take part in this fast and furious league taking on your rivals for the ultimate glory and honour of becoming one of the legendary 5vs5 coaches, living on in the memories of the people and beasts of the known world today!

There is another form of 5vs5 played across the world, but it is not talked about in “civilised” conversation… why?
Because cruel and vindictive street gang bosses coach it. They laugh evil laughs when their players are carried of the pitch in several pieces!
Players are not paid for their games,
they are threatened with much worse fates than being torn apart by hungry trolls on the pitch if they do not play.
When a Stunty Instant Tournament is arranged, rival gangs set aside their differences for a short time to cheer on and bet on which doomed wretch will die in the most amusing way.
But not all players are considered expendable to the coaches, namely the big guys. For without them Stunty 5vs5 would not be the Blood Bath that it is!
It is rumoured that some gang leaders even pay modest sums to any “small guys” brave, or stupid enough to wind up their Trolls & Ogres into frenzy before matches (most do not live to spend their well earned cash).
Another rule breaking tactic used by coaches is to slip an extra lineman onto the pitch at half time, to make up for the inevitable losses sustained during proceedings.
Refs normally notice this, but sensibly turn a blind eye, who are they to stop the rowdy crowds enjoying fresh meat being crushed under the hooves of angry Minotaurs!
Welcome to the bloody, barbaric but addictive world of 5vs5 Stunty!

Once in a while a rich Lord or Count will come forward and announce that he is holding a 5vs5 Grand Tournament.
For the winner a Grand Cup is unveiled, the runner up a not so grand cup & for all entrants a small trinket of meagre value.
Word spreads quickly throughout the land, for the Grand Tournaments earn the ultimate bragging rights for a coach.
Great fame can be earned by a winning coach his achievements are spread by bards and storytellers in taverns & around campfires.
Coaches gather their teams and journey to the venue, playing other teams as the travel.
Much blood is spilt as grudges & alliances are formed in the build up to the Grand Tournament.
Once enough teams have arrived and signed up at the Lords headquarters an announcement is made declaring that the Grand Tournament will begin in one week.
Tradition dictates that on the 6th day after the announcement a Grand Feast will be thrown for all competitors and their coaches followed by a day of rest.
Many a fortune is won and lost over the following weeks as the teams face each other on the pitch.
Stars are born & sometimes crushed as some teams progress & others are kicked back into the gutter where they belong.
The atmosphere around the city builds as the teams become fewer & the winning coaches, players & cheerleaders better known.
Finally two teams are left to face each other in the Grand Final, for one the day will end in greatness and fame, for the other a downward spiral back into obscurity.
Come one came all, roll up, roll up!
Who will win the Grand Tournament Cup?

Hey if chaos is allowed 3 big guys (albeit different ones) can they have 1 on their team? I know this is grasping at straws... |

chaos can only have one big guy. they just get to choose which one from a list of three. Only the (now defunct) chaos pact team could have three big guys. |

Hi fivers,
my suggestion is to change the replacement player rule in the following way:
(9) All teams are allowed one substitute lineman, which must be placed out of the way and not used. If a player is unable to play for whatever reason at the next team setup then the substitute may become active. E.g. after a TD or at the end of a half.
Stunty teams are allowed to have two substitute lineman
This is to make teams less one sided, as early cas can to often decide a game otherwise.
What ya think? |

I am in total agreement. As much as I like winning by having 5 guys to 2 on the pitch, being on the other side of that really stinks and once a team is a man down in 5v5, the game is pretty much over (until it evens out again with CAS). |

Seems reasonable to me. Right now I can't afford the spare, but hopefully that'll change. |

Hey guys, I'm planning to run the grand tournament soon, so get applying, and I'll start as soon as I've got 16 teams up there.

Are you tough enough to lift the cup? Can you dodge past orcs like they were cones? Come to stake your claim to 5vs5 claim! |

Here's a question for all. Could I sit out a player other than my substitute lineman at the start of the game, or does it have to be a lineman? For example, on my 5v5 Druids team could I at the start of the game sit out a catcher to start with instead of a line-elf? |
