In Ranked, if you get a shit game, you only have yourself to blame. And it also requires a bit more effort since it's up to you to judge if the transaction (game) will take place. You also have to make a product (team) that has market appeal.
It really is market economy vs centrally planned economy. When the market doesn't have a say in what products it finds acceptable, you get min/max bullshit abuse. Luckily, here people can still vote with their feet, taking their business somewhere else.

If someone qualified would like to do this, this could be a very good solution. A Sporting Director, or tiny group of Sporting Directors, steering the division in the direction they seem best.
They dictate what goes, with the goal being maximum fun and games. |

Open League Play is essentially Ranked, so I'm not sure why someone needs to drop Ranked for League if their just playing standard rosters anyway. League=Ranked.
Unless you mean actual scheduled leagues, which I concur -- it's always the answer. |

And that's the depressive part of it. It's only an exploit for destroying other teams (which is why so many shun Blackbox).
