A new league structure being proposed with two tiers of play (pros and amateurs), with players moving up as they progress.

Please reach out or post here if you have an interest (or any input) in this style of league. We will be recruiting and solidifying rules/edge cases for a little while yet, so please post or PM any time.

Basic Details:

League Names: Major League Blood Bowl (MLBB) and Amateur Amorical Association (AAA)
Time Zone: North American Timezones.
Number of Teams: 2 different leagues, 8+ teams per league, no current maximum in either league. Coaches can be represented in both leagues.
Special Rules: Specifics are being finalized, full details on structure below.

FUMBBL Contact(s): Drrek and TheRedoubt
Website: None at this time
Short Description: The MLBB and AAA represent a professional league and its minor league feeder teams, respectively. The core concept is that the AAA teams are generally going to be lower TV squads, especially as the MLBB teams can poach players by paying their Current Team Value to the AAA squad. The MLBB will end up being a mid-to-high TV league (of "professional" players) with seasonal rebuy after playoffs, supplemented by the ability to have semi-developed players instead of fresh adds.

League Rules

The league is split into 2 leagues, the MLBB (Major League Blood Bowl) and the AAA (Amateur Amorical Association). A coach may have up to one team in each league.

New Teams:
Teams in the MLBB start with 1100k gold and 36 spp to assign as they wish (NOTE: May be adjusted in future seasons to account for the growing Pro scene), as well as 5 additional dedicated fans.
Teams in the AAA start with 1000k gold and no SPP.

Bidding:
A coach of an MLBB team may put in any number of bids on players on AAA teams in a group FUMBBL private message with all MLBB coaches. The bid must be at least equal to the Current Team Value cost of the player. At 0000 server time on Sundays, the highest bidder for each bid-upon player adds that player to their roster, losing whatever gold they bid on that player from their MLBB team’s treasury. The player becomes a player on the new team much in the way of the NBFL drafting players from the NCBB (becoming a similar type player, for instance an orc blitzer could become a human blitzer). The feeder team retires that player, and gains the Current Team Value of the player in gold directly to their treasury (NOT the amount paid for the player in the case of overbidding, just gold equal to what the player counted against the team value).

If a team bids on multiple players, they must provide an order for the players they bid on, in case the total value of the players they bid on exceeds their total available cash. In the event of this happening, they will receive players in the order provided until they are unable to afford a player, at which point all of that team’s remaining bids will be considered void for comparison to other coaches’ bids.

Should a player change in value between the time that a bid has been made and the bid deadline, the winning coach will have the opportunity to increase their bid if necessary or to decline the opportunity to pick up the player, at their discretion. If they decline, the next-best bid is considered, if applicable, and the process continues.

Injuries sustained are healed when a player is picked up by an MLBB team.

Season:
Exact determination of the schedule for a season will depend on the number of teams in each league. However, regardless of the number of teams in each league, the number of games for every team (sans playoffs) each season will be equal, across both leagues. The AAA and MLBB will have the same season lengths.

Scheduling:
Coaches are expected to be able to play one game a week. This is primarily a North American league, but anyone is welcome to join provided they are able to accommodate North American times.

Playoffs:
The number of teams to make the playoffs will depend on the number of teams, up to 8 teams making the playoffs. Playoffs will be single elimination in both the MLBB and AAA. Once the deadline for games in the final week of the regular season has passed, players from AAA teams cannot be purchased until after the playoffs have ended.

AAA Rewards:
The AAA teams are trying to maintain a team on the field while also focusing on the number one concern for their owners: cold hard cash. AAA teams live and die by their books, and everyone knows that cash is king.
At the end of the regular season, coaches are rewarded based on their performance in this all-important category. A stat is tracked monitoring the team’s “profit” on players purchased: each player bought off an AAA roster awards points to their owner equal to the difference between their base Team Value and Current Team Value. So, a player with two chosen primary skills would give 40k points, a player with a random secondary would give 20k points, a player with +St would give 80k points, and so on as soon as they are purchased.
There is a trophy for the coach that turns the highest profit overall. In addition, coaches are awarded free SPP to distribute to their teams, which can be given to players before the playoffs begin (all those profits can buy “training and nutrition” packages for their players, which could be helpful if they also managed to make the postseason, when those players cannot be picked up). Exact SPP distribution will depend on the number of coaches.

New Season:
Any existing teams that progress to a new season go through the following updates as soon as the playoffs end:

    - Niggle rolls will be made as in other, similar leagues (each instance is rolled for and clears on a 4+, 3+ with an apothecary).
    - Any MLBB League team that is below 5 dedicated fans will go up to 5 dedicated fans, as fans gain hype for the new season (conveniently forgetting if their team is hot garbage).
    - After this, MLBB teams undergo a full team rebuy as per the standard Blood Bowl season rules, with a cap of 1300k (current value, final setting TBD). However, there is a single round of bidding on players from AAA teams during this time; any player that is picked up from a AAA team counts as a brand new player to the roster, and thus does not cost extra (in terms of being a veteran player) against the purchasing team’s budget; they only cost their new Current Team Value amount against the rebuy budget.
Any profit for the player purchased counts for the AAA team’s upcoming season.
    - AAA teams do not do a rebuy, their teams (what is left after others have picked their bones) go to the next season intact.
    - Next, any MLBB or AAA team that cannot field 12 players (excluding journeymen) will be offered free Linemen (or appropriate equivalent) on their roster to bring them to 12 total players. Teams can decline going to a 12th player if they wish.
    - Finally, all teams suffer a Catastrophe on the Expensive Mistakes table as they pay out their…um…”shareholders” from the coffers. Blood Bowl is an expensive business to run, you should get that money, you earned it! Note: total earnings by owners in this way will be tracked for bragging rights.

Naming Conventions:
Teams may be named however their owners wish, but if one is looking for inspiration, MLBB teams can look to MLB teams, and AAA teams can look to minor league baseball teams.
