CBBA Action Lights Up The Weekend

CBBA was at the top of the ratings again this weekend with a host of exciting games being played.

The Chevaliers accounted for the Falcons, The Cockerels embarrassed the Confederates who then compensated with a win over the Panthers, The Stallions dispatched the Diavoli, finally the Clippers and Buccs drew.

Group D Double Header Features Upsets

The favorites might rethink the proposals for double headers in the future after last nights action in Group D. The Cockerels stunned their former coach by claiming a draw against the Confederates, sending the folks of Mootland into a celebration frenzy. Then the Confederates took the field again to face the Panthers and upset the Imperial heavyweights who will be searching for answers on the back of a failed Touring Leg.

Should Chevaliers Be Favorites?

The Guisonne Chevaliers have done what the Griffins couldn't in defeating the Falcons. Not only did they win but they won convincingly. The Chevaliers now have 6 touchdowns in two rounds with only 1 conceded. We will find out next week if they are the best team at the moment when they take on the Griffins, but it's certainly looking like a strong possibility at the moment.

Verezzo Student Times

Diavoli Heading Home to Verezzo

After a disastrous tour of the North, the Diavoli are on their way back to Tilea for their first ever home match. Of course it is only right and proper that the match be played at the home of the most successful Tilean Cup team, the mighty Stallions!

The curtain raiser will showcase Verezzo's finest in a match against the Goats. Hopefully Remo Chiappa will see the error of his ways and bolster his side with more Verezzo players. Or even better, the VC realises what a huge mistake he has made and appoints Stallions coach Alfeo to the role.

Remo has declined all approaches for interviews, citing a "continued lack of professionalism amongst the College press". Apparently a FoxTalk reporter vomited on his shoes.

Tickets will sell out fast for this one. Fans, get in quick. Let's see if we can shut out those Norscan fans, and fill the stadium with locals.

From the coaches office of NCM

Wow what a match up we have for our next road leg

Another away match up vs a classy over priced team.

Head coach Tomay is a cut above the rest.

But the team has put in some extra training hours since our last match and we may have a few out of the box tricks up our sleeves but time will tell if they pay off.

Missing jeska is a big blow for the team. But they will push though

Regards

Stallions Heading for a Bowl Game

With two convincing wins, fans of the Averheim Stallions can just about start booking their leave for the bowl round. With a weak Conference schedule and at 2-0 the Stallions are going to be almost impossible to stop.

Becker Kicks Griffins Into Gear
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily

The Griffins started last nights game against the Manticores where they left off from the previous fixture against the Falcons. The team looked lethargic and clumsy as it chased around the Manticores unsuccessfully to go into the break down 0-1.

The second half was a different story however, with the Griffins raising their intensity and putting together a silky touchdown drive lead by their captain Eagle Eye and winger Becker. The Griffins continued to assert their authority, turning the ball over late in the 2nd half before Becker scooped it up and ran in his second touchdown, securing the result.

The Griffins will have to maintain that second half form as they come up against the league's red hot team, the Chevaliers in round 3. If they turn up and start slow again, they'll be trounced by the Bretonnians.

Northern Border Confederates Pre-game Roast Boar - A Recipe of Patience

"The Cockerels are out partying at the moment. In fact, the whole university is; even me with my broken ribs! Draws are always sacred to the university, and it is always a pleasure to get them. That being said, here is the recipe for the Roast Boar we cooked prior to our game. "
-Liam "Chopper" Daniels, Current captain of the MFC

Ingredients
-6 Minced Garlic Cloves of Good Fortune
-1 Pint of Beer
-1/2 cup of Chopped Patience Parsley
-1 Tablespoon of Pepper
-1 Teaspoon of Survival Salt
-1 Teaspoon of Dried Thyme leaves of Time
-2 Teaspoons of Resistant Rosemary
-1/2 Cup of Sticky Eicheschatten Mustard
-1 Tablespoon of Dodging Oil
-2 Kilograms of War Boar (Must have fought in a war)
(Note: This Recipe serves for 10 humans, but only 1 Halfling!)

Method
1- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celcius
2- Trim the fat off the War Boar. This is essential to ensure the Halfling's speed. Score top with a diamond pattern.
3- Combine the garlic, parsley, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and salt. Set aside for later.
4- Place the Boar on top of an Oiled Roasting Dish.
5- Spread Eicheschatten Mustard over the Boar.
6- Drink the pint of Beer.
7- Realize you are still cooking.
8- Sprinkle the Patience Mixture over the Boar.
9- Cook until you know it's over.
10- Celebrate with Food!

Reviews
"I can smell a good game coming!" - Louis "Speedy" Dashton
"...That was one hell of a Roast" - Karnov (Coach of the N.B.C)
"*Satisfied Groan*" - Random Drunk

Word From the Chef
"I let the team cook for themselves this time and I gave them a recipe to translate into their game. They certainly learnt a lot from cooking the recipe as the game was magnificent. We prepared the game like we did to boar, scoring on the NBC's offensive drive. That dodging oil certainly was handy and if it wasn't for the sticky Eicheschatten mustard, we wouldn't have picked up the ball as much. I don't recall adding drinking a pint into the recipe and that definitely let their guard down, letting the NBC score on our offensive. That's when the herb mixture came in and Odin certainly played with patience, preventing the NBC from snatching the ball off us and scoring; giving us the draw. For his brilliant use of patience, I have given the MVP to Odin "Lightning" Dashton. He will be using his award to learn the art of block. Our next game is against the Wolfenburg University Bulls; the previous school for our player, George "Wolf" Cameron. This will be an important game for him, to show Faulcon, that he did deserve the ogre spot on the team. This was a brilliant game and hopefully, Mootland will see more games like this in the future."

"Slippery Balls" to be investigated

The CBBA are going to run some tests on the official game balls after yet another game where teams struggled to get a firm grip on the ball. This was especially prevalent in the Axemen's loss to the Wolfpack. The CBBA is confident the balls are up to standard, especially as the Wolfpack were able to get a firm grip consistently, but are running tests to appease the fans.

RSU - Coach Confirms; Media Blackout

Coach Sem has confirmed that Reikland State were under a strict "no media contact" protocol after their shock loss to the Bulls in Round 1. "We needed to focus on the playing group and bringing standards up to where the fans expect", he commented. "We've got probably the toughest draw in the competition this year, but that shouldn't be stopping us from going the distance."

Rumours suggest that the Bulls recruits were only college students insofar as they lived nearby to the college. One assistant coach remarking that "You only have to watch them play to realise that there are some different standards being applied here".

Coach Sem refused to comment on comparative funding regulations & salary caps.

Kaper the Quickest?

Ambroos Kaper of the FCU Clippers is showing tremendous potential after his touchdown helped seal a draw against the Buccaneers. At an open training session this week, Kaper stunned onlookers with his display of speed, easily outpacing the rest of the team in sprint drills. Many are claiming that he is in fact the quickest in the CBBA, which as we all know is a huge advantage in the high paced game. Hopefully we will get to see him at full flight on the field soon to really gauge just how fast he is.

CBBA's villains Set For Round 3 Matchup
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily

The RAU Griffins' games always rate well on cabalvision. Not just because they have a large supporter base within Altdorf itself, but also because they are the most hated team in the game. Fans across the Old World will tune in on the hope that the Griffins may be upset or a valuable player injured.

For round 3 however, the Griffins play another heavily disliked team in the Bretonnian Guisorex Chevaliers. From within the Empire, the Chevaliers are hated for their alternative way of life, the way they speak and the way they carry themselves.

Indeed, the CBBA is concerned that the Griffins game this round may not draw the usual ratings as the fans dislike for both teams will prevent them from tuning in. It is a top of the table clash with both teams playing to pull well ahead of their group to assume a strong advantage in the Conference leg. Perhaps the fans can watch and hope that both teams bash each other to bits, or perhaps the fans SHOULD tune in to see the beauty of well played college blood bowl.

Blockbuster to End Round 2

Only one game remains in round 2 and it could be the game of the round. The Scorpions need to stay in striking distance of the Griffins. The Harlequins need to continue with their round 1 form. Two strong franchises head to head, can't wait!

Round 2 Wrapped Up With Draw

What a comeback! The Harlequins ended round 2 with a brilliant second half, exposing the inexperience of the new look Scorpions line up to close up a 2-0 deficit and finish the game with a draw. The Scorpions started out looking like a new side, as all members of the team contributed to put together a handy lead. Unfortunately for the Scorpions, they just couldn't keep enough of the Harlequins off the pitch, who put in a determined effort in the second half to walk away with a point. The Scorpions aren't out of it yet, but they need a win in round 3!

Matchups of the Round - Round 3

The three best matchups of the third round of CBBA action are:

Griffins vs Chevaliers - two of the heavyweights, both in form. The Griffins need a win to pull ahead of the AIC, the Chevs need to prove a point.

Wolfpack vs Yhetees - who will take out the touring leg? Both teams undefeated and have rivals doing well. They need the points.

Cockerels vs Bulls - worth watching just to see how many of the little fellas will die.
