These numbers don't seem to consider entry rate?
Like, nearly 20% of entries are Orcs. They do not win 20% of majors. Most majors have like 2-3 Zon teams in total, even when there was hundreds of entries, and they haven't made the last four often, but if you look at the number of games won per entry and rate the higher rounds more, it's HUGE.
Like, last time I grabbed the data it was about 18 months back, so ignoring BB16, wins per entry and more for later rounds, you're looking at ... some of this was Relezite and Zed, but basically if I was gunna tier them, it'd be.
4th round teams.
Pro Elf
Skaven / Chaos Dwarf
Amazon
3rd round teams.
Lizardman / Nurgle
Necromantic
...
Chaos / Orc
2nd round teams.
Wood Elf / Dwarf
Undead
Dark Elf
Human
Borderline teams.
High Elf / Vampire
Norse
Rubbish teams.
Halfling / Goblin / Khemri / Chaos Pact / Slann
Punishing teams.
Underworld
...
...
Ogre
The thing is, Orcs win more than that, because you're more likely to have a huge Orc team than you are to have a huge Zon or Pelf or Rat team, by miles, because tournament-quality Orcs live forever if they just don't take Claw games, while tournament-quality Rats get annihilated by Halflings.
Maybe things have changed in 18 months, that list maybe over-rates rare teams winning tournaments, but then some rare entries do usually do very well and sometimes even win major tournaments, and some don't, so there it is. |
