Eligible to play players "(not including Star Players and/or Mercenaries)" can get MVP.
Josef Bugman is not a Star Player or a Mercenary, and explicitly counts as part of the team once he's fielded, and was eligible to play as he did in fact play. |

If that's the case then riotous rookies can also receive an MVP, despite you being unable to hire them after the match?
Hopefully this is something that gets cleaned up in a FAQ, because surely that's not the intended result |

You can hire riotous rookies after the match these days, they count as journeymen, and yes, they soak up MVPs all the time. |

So as it stands right now, infamous coaches are the only players who can earn SPP, but cannot be hired?
"Note that Star Players and/or Mercenaries purchased as Inducements at the start of the game do not earn SPP. Journeymen, however, do, and you should record any SPP a Journeyman earns during a game as you will have the opportunity to permanently hire that player in Step 4." |

Sounds like the client/site is working fine then, it's in the rules themselves that you've got yo'self a bug, man. |

Yup - email bloodbowlfaq@gwplc.com and hope it's solved in November
Possibly a non-sequitur like "Biassed Referees may gain SPP as normal but cannot spend them on Primary skills during the match" |
