I did see the smiley, but you'd be amazed at the number that DO blame us for THEM ignoring the rules. Like it's our fault. You made the team dude, it's your fault if it doesnt get through. |

That's because it IS your fault!!! If you visited the home of every new FUMBBL coach, and physically forced them to read the rules, the problem would be greatly reduced. |

I broke the rules once but it was through stupidity: I gave 2 consecutive players the same name. It got rejected. Appologies to the admins.
Although an entire team called bob might be fun. |

it pops up as soon as you make a new team and get to the Team name part :
No profanity. Keep it nice and family-friendly.
Do not use all uppercase.
Do not begin your team name with "The". It's not necessary. |

I find two problems with the rules:
1-Being portuguese I have had problems with having my team approved because nobody in the approval section knew portuguese and they where waiting "for someone who spoke spanish" (who will not understand the names all the same)
2-There is no control of the players that are accepted after the team is approved so I can buy a player with the longest name I imagine and nobody will see it except my opponents.
Ideas:
-get someone who speaks portuguese.
-use a system that controls player's names. |

You want us to do an individual approval of all players that are bought in an already approved team? That's insane. I say we stick to just punishing the people we catch being idiots about buying new players.
Getting someone who speaks Portuguese is probably a good idea as well though i'l quite sure at least one of our approvers will speak the language. |

What I proposed was a system that blocked certain names I don't know how hard it is to program but it's possible for instance hotmail installed something like that recently for passwords so you can't use passwords like "qwerty", obviously it would be impossible to check every new players name. Good idea punishing players that are caught in the mean time. |

I hadn't read them, but my Orcs (Mak's Madedz) break rule number 1 and upload fine. Aside from that im good on all counts, i always like to have alliteration in my team names that actually sound like team names. IE, Sunadi Sirens, Maks Madedz, Waist-High Wonders, etc.
I try to theme the names of all my players to the race they are, except my Orcs who i named after friends in an IRC channel. Its fun to see who dies first and whatnot. |

Celas's list has been double-checked and the offending English names have been altered. I don't entirely agree with all of the points implied, but if someone is offended, then it gets changed.
If you are on that list and have any complaints about the renaming of your team, then just email me at dev@null.com. |

Yes, i did read the rules when i signed up and i just read them again now.
I also found this thread by searching for team and approval for reasons revealed later....

I broke this rule too by mistake but the team got approved anyway so i sought admin help to fix it (bunsen and bunsen should have been, and now is, bunsen and beaker)
I also then asked the same question and it gave rise to this team (why is it always Bob?) and they got approved with no questions maybe coz the fluff is plain for all to see.
Now here comes my reason for searching a team approval forum and this seemed like the best one....
I read the original rules when i joined and reread the team names thing at the start of this thread and i understand that names need checking and this can take a while sometimes - no complaint so far.
It is the task of the so called "approval monkeys" to carry this out but so far as i can see it written they will check new teams and approve or reject new teams (rejections i have had (2 maybe) have also been accompanied with a brief and polite explaination) but where does it say that approvers will monkey with your players names and change them such that they make no sense (either alone or as a team for fluff)
Case in point
If the original name is not a problem how do i get it changed back to what it should be. If it is a probelm (and i don't see why it would be) how do i change it to something different that still makes sense? |

Once a team is approved you can still delete/retire it and resubmit another.
As to changing a name once a team has played. I believe it is policy for this not to be allowed. Database issues.
Player names can be changed by asking your local approval monkey nicely. Try #approval.
Just an opinion, but as monkeys are notoriously fickle creatures you might want to start along the lines of 'You are all lovely people who do a great job for free, what i posted in the forums was to get information and start a discussion, not personal in any way. Now anyone fancy doing me a favour? I'd be really genuinely greatful.'
(and no where is it written that monkeys won't monkey with your teams during approval if you are contravening the rules and guidelines) |
