Some mathematical resonning behind:
lets' suppose we have those 3 coaches
1-Mr I(nactive) CR 185
2-Mr A CR 184.5
3-Mr B CR 184
everyone loose .1 pt of CR
Standing effect: none
However, you seldom can stay that high AND play because CR win<<CR loss, and I even think an 80% win ratio wouldn't perhaps be enough. So the best strategy is to get high through tournaments and not play anymore.
If everyone drop, you finally end at a ranging where remaining inactive is less advantaging (for your ranking) than not playing.
Besides, it would free the top ranking from inactive coaches.
It tend to reduce the effect of CR inflation by newbees who leaves:
let's take an exemple.
100 average coaches plays vs 100 newbees (over a certain time). They all get 1 CR point. The noobs leaves after.
You've added 100CR points to the gaming poll. Your average just got higher. By CR decay (back to the mean, actually), the poll of CR moves slowly back to a 150 as standart value again.
The system doesn't requier to play a lot. Just to be sure you are able to regain your lost points. |

Tophat you misunderstand me - I think there should be a DELAY BEFORE this coach rating dropping starts to happen. If you don't play a match in a week or so, THEN your coach rating starts to drop. It only would happen if you hadn't played in a week. |

Some may not have understood, but EVERYONE would be affected by the decay. It's thus unrelevant how much you play, as long as you play. |

If you force CR to decay with the lack of activity...
then coaches of every high TR elf-type teams could gain
higher CR than coaches of bashy teams by default.
Elf-type teams get lots of games since they don't tend to
cause casualties. Bash teams don't get nearly as many games,
and a system that links activity to CR could give an elfish bias
to the entire CR system.
Note that with a period of two weeks, this concern isn't especially
worrisome, but if the period were reduced (two days) then the
elf bias becomes stronger as the time period becomes shorter. |

As said previously: It's not after a certain inactivity that the CR effect would occur. It's to everyone at fixed date. There is no bias (except to very close to 150 coaches) |

Nice idea.
The amount of .1 every 2 weeks is somewhat too small to have a real impact so i'd prefer .1 or .2 a week. |

high win ratio is often made out of cherry picking. i think a good coach can play only <140cr and it is easy to get 90% win ratio
that "play only high tournaments strategy" wont work, because that only work on low CR and not on high CR, high CR coaches mostly loose a lot CR in tourmanents, example high cr coach play a Smack and win the first 2 games but loose the final than he loose CR in total
"not play anymore" well we are here to play. |

They did the same sort of thing with PvP rank on World of Warcraft... Where you get promoted, but if you don't maintain your PvP kills then you get demoted... People didn't like that much... power gamers liked it ok though I think! |

ok but, erm except constesting the strategie I give, you could give your opinion about the decay.
Legbreaker, Saruman, ?ssoulna? all are inactive. |

Another point:
suppose F0rd stops now to play. How do you expect to catch him back at 195 and maintain with playing over his ranking? As long as he plays, it's fine. He wins so he merits his first place. If you loose he will drop a lot.
But if he stops playing, should he remains ad vitam eternam number 1? |
