With today's update of FFB that added support for a few of the BB2016 rules, I have pushed through some of the changes needed on the site side. To give you all an idea of what has changed, and what still remains to be changed, here's a short summary:

Roster Changes

  • A number of position name changes.
  • A few rosters have changed names.
  • Human catchers cost 60k, down from 70k.
  • Halfling treemen gained the Timmm-ber! skill.
  • Skaven gutter runners gained the Weeping Daggers skill.

Rules changes
  • Argue the call is implemented.
  • MVPs are changed. You get to pick three MVP candidates and the MVP is given to one of the three players (picked randomly).
  • Spiraling Expenses is no longer affecting teams.

A number of things still remain to be implemented at the moment:
Piling On
This skill will be disabled on the site. Existing players with Piling On will have that skill directly replaced with Mighty Blow. Players who already have Mighty Blow will end up with two copies of the skill, which will let as-is. This way of dealing with the skill is a compromise between complexity of implementing a migration system and trying to not ruin teams completely. This is similar to the transition from LRB4 to LRB5 (e.g. removal of Razor Sharp Claws, which was transitioned to Claw). This will take effect in the near future; I'm hoping to be able to get this done before this week is over.

Expensive Mistakes
This is not yet implemented. This is potentially a huge change, and will affect certain teams significantly. Due to this, I will leave this feature out for a period of time to give teams at least a hint of a chance to adapt. These will not take effect for the rest of the month. The exact date of it taking effect is something I can't commit to right now, but it will be at some point in early April.

Wizard
Currently still in place, but will be disabled within a few days.

League System / Seasons
This is by far the most complicated change with the BB2016 ruleset. For now, I will leave things as-is, and implementation will happen first as an option in the League division. A decision on how / if it will be implemented in R and B will be made at a later date.

Thanks for all the great work Christer and these updates!

Just a small thought:
Players that have PO also has mb, atleast 95% of them. Wouldn't it be more kind to replace pile on with stand firm or guard and then let as-is? Just a thought.

So I MB being killed for League teams too? My only pomber is in league, is it giving the option to have it on in league or all site means every team on the site regardless of division?

If a player has 2 MB does that mean MB triggers twice per knock down or that it is just a 20-30K bloat?

well, we all knew piling on was most likely being phased out so we'll have to deal with it. Good news is all players have their expiration date. Just replace them and move on.

thank you Christer and Kalimar for all your hard selfless work over the years! You have truly created the best thing on the internet!

Thanks for all of the work.

Just one note: GW have encouraged us to stick with the CRP Wizard until Wizzies are addressed in the released rules. I think it would make most sense to leave Wizards 'turned on' as we transition?

Anyways. Exciting times.

+1 to Purplegoo.

There will be wizards, and probably similar to now, so would be good to leave them on. :)

Great work on the implementation. May I suggest replacing piling on with grab or juggernaut? I suspect the overlap between players already with piling on and mighty blow is huge and the above skills might be less likely but are poor enough that they shouldn't be seen as too much of an advantage.

Thank you for your work Christer! Kalimar too of course.
Great to see these changes come to FUMBBL. Off to donate some!

That's great.
But what i fear is that if GW keeps bubbling updates and rules changes you will have more and more work to keep up and implement them, then you will get bored at some point.

You haven't mentioned the change (removal) of the petty cash concept for when you buy inducements from bb2016

Personally I don't think PO should be replaced with anything, just let it sit there dormant as a constant reminder of the depravity of a BB coaches psyche... New players can be bought and with the new MVP rules skilled up quickly enough as it is.

Thanks for your constant drive to providing the most realistic emulation of Blood Bowl in the online arena.

I agree that mighty blow is the worst possible strength skill replacement for Piling on considering it is normally picked before. Thick skull and strong arms would also be poor choices.

I agree that mighty blow is the worst possible strength skill replacement for Piling on considering it is normally picked before (as Christer said 69% would have it replicated). Thick skull and strong arm would also be poor choices.

Stand firm is a skill not many piling on players have. And also is not one requiring players to blitz only or to block to use only, and no issue with combining with another strength skill. And it is a decent skill. Obviously guard is a better choice than mighty blow though still quite a lot of players have it already.

Thanks again for your hard work Christer. I strongly agree with Purplegoo and PeteW that wizards really must be kept in until Gw reintroduce them (which they will). It is just too game-breaking otherwise, especially for low TV, low strength sides against big bash teams (e.g. the Ulthuan Invitational!). Once bash get the ball caged there will be practically no way of stopping them. Cue very tedious games where the most the underdog can hope for is score on their own drive/s, try to stall the opponent or just run away on the opponent's drive, pray they don't get crushed and are granted time to equalise (may well need to be good at one-turning!), then hope for the coin toss. Not fun. The wizard - and threat of the wizard - is absolutely essential for game balance in large mismatches. Other inducements do not substitute for it.

Changing PO to MB for players who do not have MB seems fair but I don't like the double-MB option. This will really hurt the majority of Ogre teams. I liked the suggestion of using Stand Firm as a back-up.

It's been a good run for Piling on, but let's be fair, it was always a stupid skill and is best left behind. The elves have to be happy about this though right?

Piling on will be Mighty Blow... my Strength 5 Nurgle Warrior is now a double Mighty Blow Nurgle Warrior.
What a waste of 6+6

Replacing PO with MB is a terrible way to solve this issue.
