combat skills only
Having recently been beaten regularly by "combat teams " I wonder if a player isn't a player until he has combat skills to attack/defend on the block dice. I am mostly refering to my ag+ strong arm accurate human Thrower, but could easily be any Thrower I have had that doesn't carry the staples of block, wrestle, dodge, tackle, guard, or fend.
Other skills just seem to be luxuries until the staples are in place.
less American football mindset, more European football or Rugby mindset.

Yes. With the +ag I'd probably have taken dodge and then block.
This is not LRB4. You can now just keep the ball in his hands and let him just run for every TD.

When you are refering to american football, if you are refering to the quaterback (as the thrower); you shouln't let your thrower be your star player.
When you are refering to football, I can't think of any position that's close to bloodbowl,
When you are refering to rugby, LOS american football, football, it's not a place to be for any playmaker.
Thower's job is to hand off the ball and be a leader. On a few exceptions throwing it. Scrum-half in rugby : wiki it.

I meant that you don't have to worry so much about spreading the skills around the team. You don't want him to be hit but your blodge, AG4, sure hands guy is the hardest to take down and the easiest to squeeze out of a tight spot.
Unless it's turn 7 or 8 the opponent probably wants you to pass. You can hand off or short pass when you get to the goal line if you need to.

Humans aren't a good throwing team, I mean why would you? HE have the same armour across the board and play that game much better.
If you're making dedicated throwers (particularly in an environment which doesn't allow for skilled players across the board) I'd say you're playing the wrong game.
Remember this isn't LRB4. You can't now just keep the ball in his hands and let him run in every TD. You need to specialise on your major players. I.e. your blitzers.
