How to improve "High Kick" event
I think LRB6 made very good job balancing kick-off event. However, there are always some space for improvements.

High Kick is a common event, and I feel like it is a "nerf" for Kick and Kick-off return skills.

It could work like this:

High Kick: The ball is kicked very high, allowing a player on the receiving team time to move into the better position to catch it. Any one player on the receiving team who is not in an opposing player’s tackle zone may move up to 3 squares. Player is not allowed to cross into the opponent’s half of the pitch. This kick-off event has no effect on touchback kick-offs.

So, basically, it is "free" Kick-of return skill, but it "stacks".
If you do not have KOR, you can move one player up to 3 squares.
If you have KOR, you can move one player up to 6 squares, or move 2 players up to 3 squares each.

An idea related to High Kick event:
If a player on the kicking team has Kick then the player on the receiving team who is trying to catch the ball has a -1 modifier to the Catch roll.
This would make Kick skill more useful.

Its a boost for catch, and a boost for any team that is likely to need more then one attempt att picking up the ball; and obviously also a boost for any team with low movement.

Your version of High Kick event is too powerful, I don't like it because it could be too much gamechanging and the Kick Off table already has some gamebreaking events.

@MattDakka how so?
1) HK is more powerful if team has KOR, and ball drops in the range of KOR. KOR player has a chance to catch, and another player gets free movement.
2) If no KOR, HK is less powerful (player moves 3 squares instead of teleporting under the ball).
3) If team has KOR, and ball is more than 3 squares away, you have 2 options:
3a) You can use KOR movement and HK movement to move to the ball location. Pretty much the same as moving with KOR and then teleporting the same player with HK.
3b) You can use KOR movement with one player, and move 3 squares with another. This options is weaker than the current, because now you can use KOR movement on one player, and teleport to catch a ball with another player (so, unlimited movement to 2nd player instead of 3 squares).

So, "new HK" is more powerful in 1) and less powerful in 2) and 3)

Notice, that 1) requires KOR on the receiving team and would almost never happen if kicking team has Kick...

So, "new HK" would promote Kic and KOR.

And of course I forgot most obvious one:

4) If no KOR, you player gets to move 3 squares, instead of teleporting anywhere under the ball, like he can now.

Sorry, I misread, I thought that all players of the receiving team could move 3 squares, instead of just 1, my bad.

Better than anything Cyanide has ever come up with... but pretty low down the list of Kick Off events I would nerf.

Kick skill could flat out cancel out this event.

Andras has a good point.

@roante And just how exactly would that benefit Khemri?!? ;)

(Ruh roh! Backfired!)

Well, the obvious way to balance HK is to leave it like it is, but have the ball drop at the end of the turn (ie, turn 1 is played with the ball in the air).

OR, the player who teleports underneath the kick cant move in the first turn. Kind of sucks for 1 turn attempts, but otherwise should be an interesting dynamic.

high kick was a way to nerf "bad kick" on the kickoff events.

Hick kick is hardly game changing. Almost every other kick off roll can have a bigger impact.
