[4] Chaos

The herd was restless. The warp moon had not yet risen and already there had been numerous fights to the death. Shaman Gurul Minotaurbane waited patiently, an attribute unknown to his race, under the ten meter high obsidian herdstone where they gathered to worship the Chaos powers. Grisly trophies adorned the herdstone. Numerous skulls and bones hung from chains or were lashed on with barbed wire. Rotten pieces of equipment and gnawed bones covered the small knoll and spread out into the adjoining clearing. Then at last, the warp moon could be seen rising over the sinister mountain Toppunblug, where the Dragon-Ogres played. Gurul raised his shaggy arms to the sky and began to bray in a high-pitched cacophonic rumble. Other Beastmen joined in until the herdstone trembled as the resonance of their voices caused the air to shudder in sympathetic vibration. A figure emerged from the woods. It was huge, it towered over the forest yet left no destruction in its path. It was an gigantic minotaur, easily five times larger than the largest abomination Gurul had ever seen. The beastmen, continued their wordless chant though at a much subdued level, as they parted to make way for the Avatar. The Avatar stomped forth to the herdstone. It stood tall over the black jagged rock. In one hand it held a huge pile of skulls. In the other hand a heap of helmets. Facing the beastmen the minotaur Avatar violently threw the skulls high into the air, and then almost gently tossed the team helmets at the stunned horned assemblage. It motioned Gurul forward and gave to him a whistle carved into the screaming face of some ugly human. Realization of its implications stuck Gurul suddenly and he grunted in approval. He raised the whistle to his black lips and blew loudly into it as the minotaur Avatar nodded approvingly. The team was allright, nothing special. And yet the chaos powers had somehow taken ahold of him and he watched a helpless prisoner in his own mind as he watched himself enroll the Behemoths in the Loki invitational, one of the Champions Club Racial tournies. They had a few weeks of practices left, then it was off to the 8 man show. Gurul brayed in horror. His protege!!! He had found a suitable ogre trained him well, and in two games had accumulated 20 spp as well as benefiting from the effects of increased agility. The team was decimated to nine active players, with only seven fielded for their next game. On the plus side the core players had little sustained injuries, only a linebeast with an agility decrease. Gurul stormed into the teams locker room and ranted at them following an embarrasing loss 3-1 to a brand new Vampire team in their next recovery game. It didn't matter the Behemoths only had seven players on the field, he ranted, they were each twice as good as any damn thrall and surely our mighty chaos warriors were equal to any crapola vamipre. The team hung its head in shame. Gurul butted his heads with his opposing coach in a cheery congratulatory manner. It had been a hard fought match, but as the Behemoths and their opponents, seen pie rotting, a Rotter team, limped off the pitch he couldn't help but feel a bit satisfied with a 2-0 victory in the first round of 145 KO cup. No permanent damage taken, and despite facing a tough dwarfen opponent in the next round, his most experienced Chaos Warrior had trained up in the Tackle skill. <table
