In the Beginning
Whilst experimenting Lan'Zuus of the Amethyst Order attempted to fashion a cure to the pestilence of The Father of Filth. In order to conduct these experiments his crew sought to gather 'specimens' to extract data and test potions and spells and the like. Fortunately this search did not take long. A local Blood Bowl tourney had just come to a conclusion where a disastrous event had taken place. A fresh youthful human team (The Volari Chroniclers) had suffered a terrible defeat to a rotters team resulting in each and every one of them dead! (and as such converted to rotters themselves). League rules standing the Nurgle team did not wish to keep the services of the newly acquired rotters and so they passed to Lan'Zuus...

Having conjured many potions, weaved many spells and tinkered with the basic medicinal practices of the citadel Lan'Zuus was at a loss. While he had subsided the primal nature of the plague-ridden ball players, he could not shift their curse. With no advancement in his research the time came for the lord of Underdusk to cease operations. Lan'Zuus lab was subsequently trashed and his assets acquired by the state. All he had left were the subjects of his studies. Unable to discard them and pitying their circumstances Lan'Zuus took them up the Grimway road where he established a rehabilitation camp. There the rotters re-trained and soon enough their skills as Blood Ball players returned.

Stripped of identity and any form of name each subject is labelled by the pestilence that they were to cure.

This new experiment, though an act of penance is not without reward. The Empire Elite League summons new teams to entertain large crowds of weary folk tired of war on their door. The Grimway Monoliths have answered these summons and will test their resolve against some of the best amateur teams the Empire has to offer.

Style of Play
Lan'Zuus tests have to some extent pacified the majority of the team. He has had to address this in his coaching methods. (To represent this, this Nurgle team will not be taking CPOMB on more than one player, if even that) This team will be used as an experiment to test a Stymie style of play, and to create a more enjoyable league experience for the opponents. Though it is not mandatory (and I have seen one other player against this in the league), I hope that other players may consider alternate options to CPOMB

Season 2

The inaugural season of the EEL brought mixed reactions in the dressing room. Many were disappointed in not reaching the final, however most were happy to have represented themselves with dignity after the first game of the season against the Wood Elves and see it as a platform on which to build. In the off season focus shifted to doing the basics right. The team lacking in skilled players are always set up to be hard to beat and that is what they need to be.

Season two has gone to plan then for the Monoliths. They are undefeated so far with 2 draws and 2 victories and bagged themselves a meeting with Winni's Orcs in the semi final. Will they be able to go one step further than last years performance?
