Tired of always being beaten down on the pitch, an industrious goblin known as Grohn Hammond was stricken with a crazy idea. What if he could develop a breed of Squigs that could play bloodbowl - as the saying goes, “There’s a squig for that”. So Grohn Hammond recruited some of the best minds of the goblin world to help him start his company, GobGen.

With the help of Paleobiologist Dr. Alan Grak and Paleobotanist Dr. Ellen Squigsattler, Grohn was able to isolate and utilize a particularly primal gene in the squigs - the “Saurosome”. The squigs bred using the Saurosome were quite ferocious, massive in size, and had enormous claws and fangs! He named his first creation after an old legend, the Squigasaurus Rex. As they recruited more scienists and businessmen, they developed more and more breeds of Squigosaurs - some even tame enough to ride!

However a problem soon arose for Grohn. You see, he never intended to take the pitch with the vicious squigs, he had planned to sell them to other goblins and races and make a massive profit. But when a loose squig got hungry and mauled a researcher, the FACFL Commisioner launched an investigation into the safety and morality of such squig players. After seeing the Squigs up close, the commissar decided he would let the Squigs into the league on one condition - Grohn and his team had to be apart of the first “trial” team and play for one full season until he would accept them as an official race.

This was an easy decision for Grohn, there was no way he would play along side those vicious beasts! Unfortunately for him and his colleagues, the daemon investors that funded his project were quite adamant he make good on their returns, or “they would suffer a fate worse than death”.

And so Grohn and his team must take the pitch, doomed to die by the fangs of their own creations. Perhaps they will survive, maybe even thrive, after all - life, uh, finds a way.
