The Mary's Land Terrible Terrapins fall 2-1 in a tough matchup to the Alkhorne State Graves
The Mary's Land Terrible Terrapins continued their struggles in preseason with a forgettable showing against the Alkhorne State Graves. While there were some moments of inspired play on the side of the terrapins, it was overshadowed by their inability to dominate the line of scrimmage as well as the loss of one of their star skinksJaxson  Airy (major - economics). This in spite of the Alkhorne State Graves missing many of their key blockers on the front line.

Harmony One-Love, surprised by the ferocious squirrel, questioning all of her devotion to nature, peace and love

The first half started with the terrapins kicking off and trying to set a defensive line. This included Harmony One-Love (major - underwater biodegradable container construction) facing off against Akhorn the squirrel. Harmony, who is a known lover of nature, thought that the squirrel had just wandered onto the pitch and mistakenly took it as a lovable woodland creature. Akhorn was only too happy to take advantage of her confusion, knocking her to the ground with a brilliant uphill block. Harmony could not quite recover from this for the rest of the game as she spent most of the rest of the game staring into the skies and quiet contemplation, perhaps questioning her value system and the decisions she's made in protecting woodland creatures. This however, left the terrapins line woefully short against the Alkhorne attack. Despite our heroic defense in which Jaxson  Airy was able to come up with the ball, the Alkhorne State Graves were not to be denied and ended up pushing it in for a first half touchdown.

The second half started with Mary's Land taking an aggressive push up one side of the field, seeking the quick equalizer. However, Harmony still was dazed from her initial beating by the hands of a squirrel and was left to contemplate her decisions in the backfield. This all came to a head when coach Lancelott lost his cool and had to be restrained from running onto the pitch and beat some sense into Harmony. In spite of her coaches antics, Harmony was able to clear her head long enough to open up a hole for O. Sean City  (major - business/logistics) to squeak through and tie up the game.

Jaxson Airy seeing his last Blood Bowl match at the hands of a block from Gideon Spottsville

Looking to try to come away with another 1-1 tie, the Terrapins did their best to try to set up their defense and stop the murderous Graves. This was not to be as after some failed rushes by the team and the death of Jaxson Airy at the hands of a block from Gideon Spottsville, there was not much that the Terrapins could do to stop the drive.

Now with one draw and one loss under their belt, the Terrapins look to regroup and salvage what has been overall a mediocre preseason. The job does not get any easier as they are facing the dangerous Michigaunt Wolferines, Coach Lancelot certainly has his work cut out for him.

The Skink Scoop - Bay Reptiles Crash Through Chaos Dwarves
Fresh off a dominating win to start the season, the UMBC Bay Reptiles squared off to face back to back chaos dwarf teams. First up was the Lost Swamp Underminerz

As the Bay Reptiles received the opening kick off, the Underminerz got off to a quick blitz, rushing the ball before the flat-footed reptiles could react. But they drove too greedily and too quickly, and a Bull Centaur slipped to the ground on his way to the ball. Quickly regrouping, Sophomore Saurus Jourdan Grant and Krox Jake Stout each scored a quick casualty, and the lizards recovered the ball.

After a little more back and forth on blocking, a hobgoblin was seriously injured, and newly dedicated fouler Bryce Johnson removed a Bull Centaur with a foul, though they were ejected for their efforts. Down greatly in numbers, the chaos dwarves refused to stand back up to get hit again, and the lizards drove down the field with easy, handing the ball off to saurus Max Curran for the touchdown.

Coming out of the half, the chaos dwarves were able to remove a few lizards with good hits, including a death to a skink, the numbers and strength advantage was just too much, and once more the ball was stolen. In a perplexing move, Curran was once again handed the ball for their second touchdown of the game. The MVP was handed to Stout for their early casualty getting the ball rolling.

On the heels of this victory, the NCBB felt it necessary to match the team up against their second Chaos Dwarf team in a row, against the BGSU Falcons. The Bay Reptiles’ coach’s only comment on such a bash heavy early schedule for the team was just “we’ll play who we’re scheduled to play.”

The Falcons were the first team the Bay Reptiles fast in their inaugural season, where the teams settled for a bloody 2-2 tie. Since then BGSU has gone on a tear, losing only one game in their season in the Non-AQ before winning over Buboe State in the Killer Lite bowl.

So the Bay Reptiles knew they had their work cut out for them going in, especially considering the much more prestigious lizard school of Mary’s Land was only able to eek out a tie against BGSU earlier this season.

Rain poured on the muddy field as the chaos dwarves set up to receive the opening kickoff. While they got some good hits in, stunning a saurus and krox on the line, even with a chainsaw hired for the match, they could not immediately remove any lizards from the pitch. And the rain proved detrimental, as BGSU’s Bull Centaur fumbled the pick up multiple times, allowing JC Harris to slip in and steal the ball. BGSU was able to briefly separate them from the ball again, and knock out saurus Jairus Lyles, though the chainsaw removed himself with his own saw. A solid block removed a flamesmith, and Harris was able to scoop the ball up again on route to a score. While the chaos dwarves fared better at picking up the ball on the next kickoff, they were not able to make their way through the lizard defense before halftime.

Once again, as in the previous game, the Bay Reptiles found themselves unprepared on their receiving kickoff and the chaos dwarves blitzed into their backfield. But the ball was recovered safely, and the lizards used their superior speed to blaze by the BGSU players to the other side of the field. The chaos dwarves would not be able to catch up as UMBC scored a quick touchdown.

The next kickoff would see an end to the thus far relentless rain, and the chaos dwarves started out the drive strong, killing a skink. But even with the better start, they found themselves quickly running low on hobgoblins to screen the ball with, and the bull centaur carrying the ball was quickly surrounded by skinks. Soon the ball would be popped free, and Harris would cruise their way to a third touchdown of the game. For some reason Lyles was voted the game’s MVP, despite being knocked out quite early and never making it back to the pitch.

The atmosphere on UMBC campus has been electric following these huge wins, as the team prepares to finish out the out of conference games over the next two weeks. The team’s coach emphasized that while everyone is excited about the wins, and certainly hyped to face their neighboring lizards in 2 weeks, that they are being careful to lock in and not overlook a good Michigaunt team.

Watch Replays in Discord – FFB-Spectator Project
The FFB-Spectator app just got its first version of Replay Mode!
You can now load past games and watch them directly inside Discord, just like live games.

This is an early release of the replay system — expect bugs and rough edges.
If you spot anything broken or strange, please report it!

For those who haven’t seen it yet:
FFB-Spectator is a Discord-based app that lets people watch live FUMBBL games — no Java required.

If you want to try it out, join our Discord server and start spectating (or replaying!).

We’re still in Open Beta, so everything is subject to change.
Thanks for all the help and support so far — this would not be possible without all of you.

OWOBB #62: The Future of Blood Bowl.
To get One World, One Blood Bowl back up and running i thought it might be fun to tackle the small and easy question: The future of Blood Bowl.
There has been a rumour flying around the community, some call it a leak, some call it nonsense. But as of writing I have been sent it five times by unrelated people. So the rumour is rife.
Hence we're going to use that as a way in, discuss its possible validity and the changes we think might come, and or should come, if the rumoured new edition turns out to be a thing.

The panel will consist of:
PurpleChest: Very much not the future of BB.
RickWreckless: Blood Bowls nicest man.
JimmyFantastric: Blood Bowls Mr Nice.
AKindSir: Blood Bowls Kindest coach.

Is this the start of a grand new era? is this a load of old nonsense and best ignored? Is Blood Bowls Golden age coming to an end?
All very good questions we will probably ignore and talk about something else.
So join us live at 9pm UK time on https://www.twitch.tv/purplechest Sunday 22nd June or catch up in the days following on YouTube on your favourite podcasting service.

Dick Vitelf Recaps Green Dukes Vs. Revolution
New DSPN Host Dick Vitelf Recaps the Duqueswood University Green Dukes vs. the George Washington Revolution

For game 2 of NCBB season 47, Dick Vitelf takes the DSPN anchor desk. Click the image above or this link to watch the highlights of the Green Dukes vs. the Revolution on the Tube of Thou.

Trancript:

Welcome to DSPN, the Duqueswood Sports and Plants Network. I’m Dick Vitelf, and we interrupt our continuing 24-hour coverage of a blooming Daffodil along the Penrose River to bring you these highlights from the Duqueswood University Green Dukes versus the George Washington Révolution.

Aftter a big W in the first week, the Green Dukes are looking to get off to a super, scintillating, sensational start. Two dubs in a row would be elfsome baby, with a capital E.

But this Revolution amazon team has something to say about that. With sophomore jaguar blockers Maxime Robespierre and Jeanne Marat, this is no cream puff delight, baby.

These ladies were diaper dandies last year. We’re talking nearly 200 blocks and 7 casualties between the two of them. And look at them start the game here by taking out two line-elfs. It’s a dipsy-doo-blocker-oo! They’re scary baby! And Georgette-Jacqueline Danton takes out another one here with a forearm to the throat.

The Green Dukes want no part of these feisty zons early, so they settle back into a column defense here, with Lyric Birdsong playing safety, and sophomore treeman, Mirlin Weatherborn trying to be a space-eater out there.

But the Dukes just can’t get these ladies on the ground. The Revolution’s dodging today was just amaz-awesome with a capital A!

However, late in the drive, Duqueswood line-elf Grindar Redbranch has a chance to bring down the ball carrier. He makes the dodge and blitzes in. He wants to be a PTP-er. He’s saying, hey, look at me, Coach, I can be a superstar, baby! But no. He takes a stiff arm right to the kisser—slam-bam-jam—and he’s down on the turf.

Then, what happens here? This is the Green Dukes’ new approach. Coach Pondripple says, safety first, fellas. No more cage-leaping. He’s calling his war dancers “peace dancers” now, and he’s waving everyone away from the ball.

So Jeanne Bécu doesn’t even need to dish the rock. She goes coast to coast for the score, and the Green Dukes are just happy to get into the second half with both of their war—I mean, peace—dancers still on two feet.

Then here we go with the second half. Down 8 players to 11, what are the Green Dukes gonna do? They got no hope, right? This game is over, baby. O-V-E-R!

But not so fast, ’cause they got senior peace dancer Deathwyntyr Whitebranch, and he’s elfsome baby, a real high-riser, a real sky-walker.

Here he is, penned in by amazons, what’s he gonna do?
He gets a big block from sophomore thrower Gilwin Windhand, who delivers a flying kick to the side of Danton’s head, and slam-bam-jam, baby! She’s dead before she hits the ground.

But still, Whitebranch is a long way from paydirt, and there’s plenty of zons breathing down his neck.

They say after his dislocated shoulder from last year, this kid’s not the same player, he’s not a PTP-er anymore, but he says, no! Like that elven legend Treeroy Jenkins, he takes off all on his own, and look at him go! He’s a superstar baby! This kid is Prime-Time with a capital P!

Whiebranch ties it up 1-1, just like that, I’m telling you this kid is something special, baby! He single-handedly kept the Green Dukes in the game, doing everything he can to bring home that W.

But the revolution still have a 3 player advantage, so what are the Green Dukes gonna do on defense? Coach Pondripple is telling Whitebranch to stay back, but the kid sees something here and there he goes! He says, what dislocated shoulder? What negatrait? I got this!

But no, he can’t bring down the ball carrier.

It’s so sad, really. You have to think, a year ago, Whitebranch makes that play, no problemo.

But he doesn’t give up. Coach Pondripple is on the sidelines, losing his mind, telling the kid not to leap into that cage, but Whitebranch can’t stop. He’s a PTP-er baby! He’s gonna take one last shot to get the Dukes the Dub. He’s looking for a trifecta here—the dodge, leap, blitz.

And look at him elevate. It’s slam-bam, but … no jam because he just doesn’t have the muscle to bring down the ball carrier.

And with Whitebranch on the ground, Birdsong tries a desperation cage dodge, but it’s not meant to be, and Jeanne Becu waltzes in for the winning touchdown.

And like that, the Revolution take the game 2-1.

But there’s a bright side here for the Green Dukes. That’s two games in a row with no deaths. It’s their longest death-less streak in two seasons, baby! So maybe Coach Pondripple is onto something.

Their next game is against the Poli Puerkos, a dwarf squad. That’s a tough match up, but they can’t get down now. The Green Dukes got to take some inspiration from my good friend, the late great Jimmy Tree, and his Jimmy Tree Foundation.

What did he say? “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up!”

New Replay Mode: Collaborative Replay in Client Version 2.36
As you might have seen in the release notes of the client with version 2.36 the replay mode has received a major overhaul.

A hopefully brief and comprehensive explanation can be found in this video

In a nutshell collaborative replay allows coaches to watch a replay together each one using the ffb client with their own settings and without the need of a screensharing tool like e.g. Discord. The first coach to join will be taking control of the session but can pass this on to someone else should it be needed.

Though the old replay mode, now known as solo, still exists and you can choose between the too after loading your replay.

Additionally replays now support sketching meaning that you can draw arrows over the pitch to show where you would have done sth. different or where you spot a problem in the positioning.

These are shared among all participants and everyone can sketch, while the coach in control can block specific people should they feel the need and everyone can choose to hide the sketches of other coaches should they decide to do so.

Sketches are available for both modes so even when using solo mode you can draw on the pitch.

These features are intended to improve the teaching capabilities and make fumbbl a better learning platform for blood bowl.

As always, should you notice issues please file bug reports and let us know.
