Without fluff there would be no Blood Bowl.
Still, while a good written match report is entertaining, it's always takes some extra effort, and we mostly don't bother... am I right? I believe so.
Here's a thought though,
imagine there was a small voluntary questionnaire dialogue that popped up in the client on full time.
it could be page 1 of the stats pages.
It has questions like:
Describe your team's effort: answer1
Describe your opponent's team's play: answer2
Describe your opponent's attitude: answer3
etc. etc.
The answer in these would then generate an automatic match report, like.
Quote: | The Thunderous Thermominators put on a "terrible" performance in their loss to a "magnificent" Middenheim Murdurdurs. Coach Frock-in-a-rock was a pleasant opponent, and, etc etc. |
It could even have different grammars and sentence depending on if the team is chaotic, good, elven etc.
And if you still don't bother to fill in, no problemo. It just stays blank.
Cool? Am I onto something here?
I volunteer to develop the questionnaire and pre-generated text. |

Or just a little questionnaire. Mad-libbing it would get really old really fast. |

I don't see any downside other than having to make one extra click for those who want to skip it.
I suppose it could be made into an option in the client itself, but that sounds like work for someone else |

I foresee a lot of work for the admins because people will use foul and abusive language, no thanks. |

Nah, make it part of the match report. Clicking "Add/Edit Match Report" takes you to the questionnaire. This eliminates the extra click and the extra work for the admins (that is, match reports are what they are).
1) How would you classify this match?
OPTIONS: Epic, Exciting, Bizarre, Conventional, Unfair, Awful
2) How did you rate your odds in this match?
OPTIONS: Favored me (strongly/slightly), Neutral, Favored opponent (strongly/slightly)
Team Power
Inducements
Matchup
Coaching
Dice
Critical Moments
3) What would you say was the most important event in the game?
4) Were there any distractions, misclicks, crazy spectators, awesome chat exchanges, or other "hidden" events that were important in the match but would not be obvious in the replay?
5) Were there any long-term repercussions to this game? Did you lose or develop a great player, get crippled before a big match, fill a hole in the grid, or accomplish a notable statistical feat?
6) If you could have done one thing differently, what would it be?
7) Comments:
8) If you would like an admin to review this match, please explain why. (If you have no reason to flag this match, please leave this field blank.) |

9) How bad did your dice suck? BAD / REAL BAD / RNG IS BROKEN / RAGE QUIT
10) are you rage quitting? YES / YES
11) really, you are rage quitting over this? YES / I HATE YOU AND YOUR CAT / #$%W#$!@#$ |

If the current stock of admins (pun intended) feel this would impact their workload negatively, I think Mr Jackass' suggestion here might be just as good, if not even better than mine!
edit: Stop, Tumour time! |

Just stopping in to support this. A well written match report normally takes a few minutes to write, so most of the time I (and most people) just don't write it.
This would increase my likelihood of using a match report. |

I agree with Woodstock. That's why I think this is an excellent idea and I would love to see it.
That being said... this doesn't exactly require fumbbl. Someone can build a web-based form and you can copy the output and paste it into a match report.

Hmm, I think that if you're not willing to bother with writing up a real match report, leaving out the automated one isn't really any great loss. |

I was thinking about match reports just now.
I appreciate its fummbl and not book face but I feel it would be coll to have the option to "like" a match after it has been completed. That way, people could watch some of the most highly rated matches on replays by sorting by likes.
As for match reports, I think it would also be nice for spectators to also have the option to write match reports on games they watched. You could then have the coaches reports along with the neutral report.
Finally, people could maybe offer to write up match reports and people could submit their best replays to be written up. Maybe a limit of one per coach per month and purely on an informal basis. Reviewers could even offer tactical tidbits if they so felt |

I like all that stuff. There should be more of that, IMO. |
