Cool. I raised this thread a year ago as part of an anti-Big Mac protest. Cool

I just want to rant at the poor defensive abilities I have been observing on FUMBBL. If the only defensive tactic you know is "let my opponent score", then you definitely have some Blood Bowl learning to do.

Seriously, next time you want to stall, why not score instead. If it is not a life-important tournament, guess what? You might actually learn something by defending! And guess what more? You may even realise that your 11 dwarves CAN stop 2 halflings, and thus learn that you don't always HAVE to stall.

I miss the old cards (pre-lrb). Just having one in your hand while smiling mischievious was enough to make your opponent skip stalling and score right away Wink

Nice necro btw.

I was "forced" to score early and give a full team of orcs 3 turns to tie the game against my remaining 6 DE. Worked out fine for me.

Generally though if I'm forced to give an opponent a turn anyway (i.e. he plays last), I'll give him 2 turns instead if it won't cost me the game. The 3-player LOS beatdown is worse for your team (health-wise) than defending 2 turns against orcs or dwarfs who are trying to score.

Well, it's a valid strategy for me ... I guess the real question here is what makes the game fun : the goal of the game is to win, the point of the game is to have fun (that's true for a lot of games). But what makes the game fun does not depends on the game as much as what the players expect, or what they consider "fun". For example, my high elves in [B] do their best to gangfoul, 8-turn-stall, crowdsurf and be very rude to everyone in general, and they're fun to play, considering [B] players are usually very competitive and expect that sort of behavior. It might not be true in [R] where players' expectations of the game are more diverse, and some people just might not like being stalled on for 7 turns, not because they can't counter it, but because they don't find it fun*. (It is true that by stalling you're effectively trying to get rid of a bunch of turns of the match, after all ; it's a strategy that relies on refusing to play for x turns to deny your opponent something ; and he might feel "robbed" of those turns. It's also funnier to stall than to be stalled, which can be quite frustrating sometimes when you can't do anything and your opponent just maxes out an advantage.)

Also it's nice no to stall sometimes, breaks the routine, spices the game and may even add difficulty, and makes people learn new things Smile

(*not trying to turn this into a [B] vs [R] debate ! just my opinion Wink )

whine much grod?

stalling is a perfectly valid defensive strategy - it is called clock management.

I think this thread can be summed up with one very simple answer to the opening question: yes

Or "no". Either one is a valid answer as neither answers a stupid question.

wouldn't that mean the neither is valid?
