We are currently in 'season one' of Deathzone. The implication is that Wizards will appear in a future season and we may use the CRP version as a stopgap if we so choose. My impression is that the box and S1 contain 'the rules', though, so Wizards may well be optional? AH saying that does make it less clear.

Oh, they don't really mean optional, they mean "slightly complex bits of the full rules you may agree to not bother playing with if you like, like intercepts and stuff, the game still mostly works without them".

So Piling On is totally in. It just uses a team RR.

You're being confused by multiple uses of the word optional in the thread, there. I appreciate it's noisy. PO lives in the optional rules section, similar to pick a player for MVP in CRP, for example, that somewhat out of the way bit. It doesn't live in the slightly more complex rules (for n00bs, like INTs) section.

Not at all.

We should not confuse two meanings of "optional."

The section Extra Rules of the rulebook covers everything that is not the basic game dynamics. If you want to teach your kids the game, you don't use them. In that sense, assists are optional.

The section Optional League Rules of Death Zone 1 is a one-pager presenting some tweak ideas for League Commissioners. If a Commissar wants to start a league at 1000K and add to this 100K each season (coaches need to buy back their players each seasons) you can. In that sense, Piling On is optional.

The power of the League Commissioner does not seem to extend to modify the skillset, though. This causes a precedent, I believe.

And the Wizard is removed in standard games from the post-CRP era aka the new Blood Bowl edition?

I think it's the one slightly confusing item on the list, Dom. But only because of that out of rules comment.

The most likely state of affairs is that yes, it's gone (after all it's not there) and that Andy's comment was essentially 'you do what you like to have fun' to the TT guy bemoaning the loss of Wizards. Perhaps we'll see something optional in a later DZ book.

It used to be that the Necromancer was the Head Coach for the Undead teams, and if he was Sent off on a failed Argue the call. He was kicked out of the stadium, and the team lost the ability to Raise dead, and Regenerate for the rest of the game.

Any chance that could happen again?

Your local Games Workshop can probably get you a good scan. Wink

Let's not use Fumbbl for distributing IP.

There's an app called My Dugout where you can get the rules as iBooks.

Let's also remind Fumbblrs that the site rules mention they should own a copy of the game.

And to prevent further confusion: it is perfectly legal to quote rulz for fair use, i.e. as long as it's for public interest.

The simple reason is that they should be "unadorned facts" about the game.
