When you start a legitimate thread about trolls being a problem, why do moderates feel the need to get involved and lock the thread down? Do they fear free speech? Seems to me, that they are more interested in protecting their friends then in keeping the legitimate discussion going on.

To prove my point, this thread will be locked ASAP!

Ah well, I guess I'm not going to be at this forum that much longer anyway. Sad I complain too much.

Oh, and my example of course. You decide if it was worth locking.

Yes, I think it was deserved; more for your tone than what was said. Not often I agree with Shadow, but on this one I do.

As was suggested in that thread, perhaps it would have been better to take your issue to an admin in private?

I would've probably deleted the thread if I only saw it earlier... There was/is absolutely no reason for you to post something like that. If you have issues, contact the admins, do not start a public witch-hunt.

I'm surprised that doesn't happen here. Other forums I frequent will delete trolling and spam quite regularly if they threaten to derail a thread.

Chrome_ghoul that sounds like a common sense idea that just might work. At present it seems we just reward the trolls and spammers.

I could start with that, but I can see the threads about censorship and admin abuse already. Not to mention the amount of trolling/spam is minimal compared to other on-line communities I'm part of.

This thread is about as useful as the locked thread.

If you have a serious problem with anyone on Fumbbl, talk to the admins about it. Don't start whiny threads that, as far as I can tell, is just an attempt to troll.

Warseer does it very well IMO. They typically issue a warning in a thread that is being trolled, then if it continues the offending posts are removed.

Im not sure what communities you hang out at Woodstock, but I find fumbbl to have quite a bit of trolling.
