I reckon whatever you do, don't give him anymore re-roll skills (pass, sure feet), too unique for that.
I guess SS is not too bad, but what I would do if I were you is change the player's gender, because it looks like a right sod. |

Can one of you guys fully explain the benefits of side step to me. Sorry if that is a stupid question. It is great for my lower AG players but with AG6 he normally just dodges away.
I see the benefits as being:
opponent a little less likely to block you.
can't push you out of range for scoring etc.
doesn't have to fear frenzy or the side of the pitch.
a marginally easier ottd against certain setups.
Are there other things? What am I missing that means for coaches better than me it is obviously side step? |

I'd give it Guard, myself. If used sensibly, high AG Guard is terrific.
Just be sensible.
I edited a word obscured by asterisks above. Whilst it may seem pernickety, thems the rules. |

Yeah I would say Guard if you can protect him. If you are not confident of that then SS is great. |

I would go conservative on this one and go with sure feet. It couples nice with his sprint skill and the MV9 take the built in Re-Roll for GFI
My main issue with SS is that in order for it to be used YOU HAVE TO BE BLOCKED first.
Wood Elf catchers #1 plan is to NEVER BE BLOCKED!!!!
Now for that OTS SS is nice but if you cannot push him 1 pace down field, well, you got other issues then, |

guard on this guy is just likely to get him killed faster. Not that guard is bad at all, it's great, but ehh... I'm not sure I'd take it on him.
sure feet for me, but side step is handy sometimes, I just cannot imagine this guy gets blocked very much, so side step is totally for making the push for the ott easier, but sure feet makes the gfi for the ott easier.
alternatively take leap. I know, not so necessary with ag6 dodge, but occasionally you just want to go in a straight line over someone, not around them, and if you have to do multiple dodges vs. tackle leap often removes a couple rolls you would otherwise have to make.
I have an MA8AG5 dark elf with leap, and I don't regret it (of course he also had blodge and sidestep) |

Pass will be used or has the potential to be used the most through your standard Wood Elf game. Team ReRolls being used on routine moves is what gets the 7 AV buggers into the most trouble. |

I'm seeing 2 loners from last game, and 1 for next, with more than enough cash to replace them and get a 12th man - I'm assuming you prefer to run only 11?
If that's the case, "protecting him" is going to be tough, and really tough in some games. So Guard, while the overall "better" skill for the team, would indeed only get him killed that much faster unless you are ~very~ good (and careful!) with positioning.
Similar w/ Leap - will solve some problems, but will also put a bigger target on his back without adding any protection for his AV 7 ass.
Pass... seems a waste. He has so much more to offer. Someone else should become the Passer - perhaps a Thrower even. :/
So (again, based on the above surmise), SS would be better in your case, unless you're good with Guard for the (very?) short-term. |
