Me as well. Norse linemen are so cost efficient having a slightly less cost efficient positional is fine.
Same with Valkyries who add a lot of flexibility to that team and are now my favorite part of that team. |

If at least he had sure hands, I wouldn't care for animosity, but he doesn't even have such a core skill. |

Oh yeah I forgot the OWA dwarf blockers don't even have block... want to change my vote to them now.
Most of the other positionals on the list I like. People are welcome to not use them, and it might even be optimal not to, but a lot of them at least give different ways to play the team which is a good thing.
Plus I'm reluctant to hate too much on the throwers just because passing is universally terrible in this ruleset. It's not their fault! One day they'll be valuable players again! |

OWA Dwarf Blockers should be renamed OWA Dwarf Brawlers. Blocker is misleading. |

Aren't the strength 4 pieces usually called Blockers without actually starting with Block ? |

Yes, but they have ST 4, at least. OWA Dwarfs have just ST 3.
A ST 4 player doesn't fail blocks 1/6, but 1/9.
Assuming defender's ST 3, of course, which is the most common ST value. |

Yeah Blocker doesn't mean Block. It's a get in the way player.
Strange that pieces seems to get used more these days rather than players |

Then all Big Guys, who act as roadblocks, should be called Blockers.
Also, Catchers have Catch and are called Catchers.
Naming players after their skills seems logical to me. |

To me, a Blocker has or can easily get the Block skill. Frequently they start without it, but you'll notice that apart from OWA, most non-Block Blockers have ST4, and "Thou Shalt Not Start With ST4 And Block" has been written from on high a long time ago. |

So, even a Human or Orc Lineman is a Blocker, by that logic.
Also, if a normal Dwarf is called Blocker and has Block, naming an OWA Dwarf Brawler would help to make clear that they are different. |

They're named after American football position roles. Big guys are multi functional although the best ones do indeed function as Blockers.
That said the owa Blocker essentially has the job of a lineman... |

Even OWA Dwarf Lineman would sound better to me than Blocker, and would make him different from normal Dwarf Blocker Lineman.
I'm not American Football expert but I guess they should be called Linebackers, not Blockers. I might be wrong, though. American Football experts will surely know it.
For BB I would use this naming:
- Linemen: players without Block, with average (or close to team's average) MA and AG;
- Brawlers: players with Brawler;
- Blockers: players with Block/Wrestle (although Wrestlers could be better) and average or lower than average MA;
- Bruisers: ST 4 players;
- Throwers: players with Pass or some passing-related skill;
- Runners: players with higher than average MA, with or without some ball-related skill (such as Sure Hands).
- Catchers: players with Catch;
- Big Guys/Roadblocks: ST 5 or higher players;
- Blitzers: players with either Block/Wrestle and higher than average MA.
- Players with Frenzy: Berserkers or Maulers (or a name fitting the fluff, if possible, like Troll Slayers and Witch Elves); |

Oooh! Naming players by the skills they have. I have a few more!
Numbskulls: Players with Bonehead.
Droolers: Players with Really Stupid.
Divas: Blodgers
Of course, when the players spend > 50% of their waking hours drunk, all naming conventions go right out the window. (C.f.,Old Norse Catchers.) |
