The NCBB season 32 is coming to a close. Only a few games remain before the Bowls at the season end!

Ottawa has long collected scraps of biological specimens from the NCBB games, and done wondrous research with them.

Now, we turn our hand to predictive stats.

We have compiled the most exhaustive algorithm known to statisticians the old world over!

From this we can now do two things - we can indicate who the best team is, and predict who the best teams will be at the end of Out of Conference play!

Further, we can say without a doubt, that the first place team will have less than twice the points of the last place team!*

Lastly, the algorithm accurately represents such important details as Wood Elves are cheaters, Orcs are awful, and Lizardmen are the natural rulerss of the Blood Bowl Pitch.

Without further ado, our predictions for the top teams of the NCBB at the end of season 32:

1: TCU Horned Rats
2: California Golden Lizards
3: SMU Mousestangs
4: Miami BallHawks

Note that the top 4 are all from seperate conferences. I think this is a true indication of the fairness of the NCBB!

5: Howlson Tigers
6: East Carolina Pyrates
7: Duke Blue-Green Devils
8: U-Dub Elfskies
10: Bro-Hio State Buckeyes and Roald Amundsen Medical School

Note that Bro-Hio and Roald Amundsen are tied for 23rd right now, bit our algorithm is so sophisticated that we can see their true potential!

12: Air Force Warpstone Falcons and Mz State Bull Dawgz
13: Texas E n' M Banshees
15: UTEP Party Minors and UC San Dogo Krytens
16: Oregon Waterfoul
17: Karak University
19: U of Wisconsin Rat-Grrrrs and Berea Bleeding Angels
21: Saint Louis Billikens and Colgate Ultra-Brets
23: BYU Cougars and Poli Puerkos
24: Unv. Central Florida Knights
25: FlaSt Delfinoles

Note that Karak and BYU are biggest standouts here. They're currently 8th and 14th respectively, but are inflated due to simply playing all their games faster than their competitors.

26: Illinois Valley CC Ranchers
29: Ooklahoma Flingers and Northern Virginia CC Hawks and Notre Dame Flying Irish
30: Isha-ana State Sycamores
31: Purdue Braziermakers
32: Zhar Naggrund Mountainers

And, just to prove the fairness, the last 4 also come from all 4 conferences! The competition is fierce in NCBB!

*Pleasenotesometeamsareactuallylowerthan halffirstplacebutwethinkthstisclearlyananomoly.

Stay tuned for more perfect information from the Ottawa Bee-Bees rant and rave section!

More games have been played, and we continue to monitor progress.

Based on these new games, there are some changes to our predictions!

The top 4 remain the same. However, 5th to 10th are a bit shaken up:
East Carolina Pyrates moves up to 5th
Duke Blue-Green Devils and Howlson Tigers move down for a three way tie with U-Dub Elfskies for 8th
Roald Amundsen Medical School moves up to 9th (note this team has the highest potential, as currently they are sitting tied at 24th)

Up to the top 15 have a few changes as well.
Air Force Warpstone Falcons, Mz State Bull Dawgz both move up, still tied but 11th
Texas E n' M Banshees moves up to 12th
Bro-Hio State Buckeyes falls hard to 13th

Karak University inch up to 16th
Berea Bleeding Angels and U of Wisconsin Rat-Grrrrs stay tied but up to 18th
Oregon Waterfoul falls drastically, down to tie with others who dropped, Saint Louis Billikens and Colgate Ultra-Brets, and make a four way tie with rising star FlaSt Delfinoles, all to match at 22nd
BYU Cougars and Poli Puerkos both drop to toe at 24th
Univ. Central Florida Knights drops to 25th

And at the bottom Purdue Braziermakers and Isha-ana State Sycamores swap to 30th and 31st respectively.

There have been a few that changed but overall, the algorithm is looking good. I think we can see where most teams will be.

And still one from each conference in both the top and bottom 4!

After reeling from the most ear-piercing shriek ever to grace Texas, er, Texas E n' M, the Ottawa Bee-Bees rant and rave has made some very integral edits to the standings.

Should anyone else find that their team has been slighted in some way, well, we're grey and garnet and dead/f already, so, bring it on! The Bee-Bees are gonna take you down next season anyway!

UCSD doesn't climb after beating the 3rd-ranked team?

The Ottawa Bee-Bees, in an effort to maintain impartiality for this early version of the algorithm, does not have any extra weights for the ranking of your opposition.

Also note, that the previous posts all regard the predicted ranking based on end of season results, with the assumption that ALL teams will play the full 9 games.

So, your rankings already predicted that you would win (or not) the remaining games. For those mentioned in the second post, the ones who changed, that is because the results of their games didn't match the initial predictions.

Now, some of you, nay perhaps many, want to know: what is your standing now? Not the predicted standings!

For this, we will do two things. We will show the current standings, and compare them against the standings if we PURELY go on game results (instead of the far superior Ottawa Bee-Bees advanced calculator).

So here are the current standings:
TCU Horned Rats 1st (Ottawa Bee-Bees super awesome algorithm) vs 1st (games ranking)
California Golden Lizards 2nd vs 3 way tie for 5th
Miami BallHawks 3rd vs 2nd
SMU Mousestangs 4th vs 6th
Howlson Tigers 5th vs 6 way tie for 15th
UC San Drogo Krytens 6th vs 3 way tie for 5th
East Carolina Pyrates 7th vs 2 way tie for 9th
U-Dub Elfskies 2 way tie for 9th vs 3 way tie for 5th
Texas E n' M Banshees 2 way tie for 9th vs 6 way tie for 15th
UTEP Party Minors 10th vs 6 way tie for 15th
Karak University 11th vs 6 way tie for 15th
Duke Blue-Green Devils tie for 13th vs 19th
U of Wisconsin Rat-Grrrrs tied for 13th vs tied for 9th
Oregon Waterfowl 14th vs 16th
BYU Cougars 15th vs tied for 18th
Air Force Warpstone Falcons 16th vs tied for 30th
MZ State Bull Dawgz tied for 18th vs 3 way tie for 22nd
Berea Bleeding Angels tied for 18th vs tied for 26th
Bro-hio State Buckeyes 4 way tie for 22nd vs tied for 18th
Saint Louis Billikens 4 way tie for 22nd vs 6 way tie for 15th
Colgate Ultra-Brets 4 way tie for 22nd vs 3 way tie for 22nd
FlaSt Delfinoles 4 way for for 22nd vs 7th

For UCSD specifically, note that our algorithm predictions were both based on up to the end of the weekend only. I think your win was actually after that, as the current predictions have UCSD ending the season in 10th. (Which is obviously due to expecting a lot of your opposition to increase a fair bit with their remaining games, so if those games don't happen, you may end closer to the current 6th.)

With the official* end of the season, we will now post our standings. We'll include both our final predictions if everyone could have played their remaining games, as well as the standings based purely on game results for comparison purposes.

From this we can see, Slaven are heavily favoredc in the current algorithm - but really *says the Skaven sorcerer Nelphine, coaching the Ottawa Bee-Bees, a team that literally got started as blood and brain collectors from the aftermath of bloody games* that's probably not an issue overall.

TCU Horned Rats 1st (Ottawa Bee-Bees algorithm) vs 1st (if all teams had played 9 games) vs 1st (pure games results)
California Golden Lizards 2nd vs 2nd vs tied for 5th
Miami BallHawks 3rd vs tied for 5th vs 3rd
U-Dub Elfskies 4th vs 6th vs 2nd
SMU Mousestangs 5th vs 3rd vs 6th

Ottawa is getting ready for their first season. We've got quite the series of matchups coming:

Round 1: UW - Whitewater Warfrogs (Slann)
Round 2: Sham Howsten Rats (Skaven)
Round 3: Hawaii Warrielves (Elven Union)
Round 4: Indiana Horrors (Necromantic)
Round 5: Texas AM Aggros (Chaos Dwarf)
Round 6: Toledo Radrockets (Skaven)
Round 7: Gallaudet Deaf Bulls (Chaos Dwarf)
Round 8: UMass Minimen (Dwarf)
Round 9: Appalachian State Hillbillies (Human)

For the first round.. we're up against frogs. Warfrogs. But, UW Whitewater being as new to the league as Ottawa, they're unskilled frogs. That should give an edge to the Bee-Bees, as they'll have a harder time taking down the Ghouls, and the Wights will have an easier time taking the Slann down. And the Mummies will try to make some frog soup for afterwards!

Nuffle watched this match.

And laughed. And said 'let there be Both Down!'

For these two new teams, playing their first game in the NCBB, there were some beautiful surprises.

First: Ottawa Bee-Bees turned over 9 times due to blocks. Only one of these was a 1db.
Second: UW-Whitewater Warfrogs passed dozens of leap and dodge attempts in the first half before failing one.
Third: Chibuike Udenigwe, ghoul for Ottawa, seriously injures himself attempting to 2d block a

Now at this point, this sounds like 'Nuffle is laughing at Ottawa'. Oh no.

The Warfrogs (after Ottawa removed their own ghoul trying to stop them from scoring) scored a defensive touchdown on turn 6 of the first half.

Only two turns left. For the second time, Ottawa sets up to receive, rushes Hershel (a ghoul) and Jean-Michel (a wight) forward to pretend to have a chance of scoring on turn 8. Predictably, the Warfrogs blitz down Jean-Michel, and put a diving tackler and 2 other players to mark Hershel.

Ottawa looks at this.. and says hell with it. No re-rolls left (ha! used them all by turn 3). So let's run forward, including a GFI, and then hand off the ball (in 3 tackle zones). Then we'll blitz (pow) one of the guarding catchers, then 5+ dodge away, and GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALL!

Yes, it really happened. Nuffle was laughing at everyone.

Then the second half. Ottawa manages to cause a bit of pain, there's lots of scrumming going on, eventually the Warfrogs move forward on a lesser guarded wing, no re-rolls left, ok, 2+ to hand off, 2+ to leap, 2+ gfi, and the frogs will score on turn 7. No. They fail the GFI. Fine. Ottawa blitzes a ghoul into scoring position, then tries to pick up the ball. No dice. It's still in Ottawa's end zone. Warfrog cover Hershel, and then leaps a catcher onto the ball! But fails the leap, no touchdown.

Ottawa sets up some fancy 3die blocks, clears a path.. and does a short pass (but it's been SUNNY the whole game, so 5+!). No problem. Then lunge forward to hand off to Hershel once again, who will only need to blitz past the catcher, then gfi twice, and Ottawa would WIN after this whole mess.

No dice. Can't catch the ball because of the tackle zone, even with the re-roll we have left (after suffering 3db turnovers, and skulls, and double skulls, just to save that re-roll).

Draw.

Thanks rodney_dangerfield! May Nuffle laugh at our opponent's next!

This one looks a little tougher (ha) than the last one. Skaven start with as many skills as we do, and have much speedier buggers than the slaan catchers we just faced. No leap though. So, we may still have an edge. We definitely outstrength our opponent, as we have 2 mummies, and Julian Starr, passing ghoul, CLEARLY successfully passed due to his prodigious strength 4! And despite Chibuike Udenigwe seriously injuring himself against those same blann catchers, we earned enough cash from our match against the Warfrogs that we still have 3 ghouls on the pitch!

From here we can do some comparisons:

Hawaii Warrielves: 1100 TV, +2 TD, -1 cas, +15 SPP, a catcher got Dodge, and a thrower got Safe Throw, and the team purchased an Apo
Texas AM Aggros: 1080 TV, +2 TD, -1 cas, +11 SPP, a hobgoblin skilled Dirty Player and the team purchased an Apo
Appalahcian State Hillbillies: 970 TV, +1 TD, +0 cas, +15 SPP, a blitzer learned Guard
Ottawa Bee-Bees: 1060 TV, +0 TD, +1 cas, +13 SPP, a Ghoul became +Str, and the team purchased a Ghoul
Sham Howstan Ratz: 1020 TV, +0 TD, +1 cas, +12 SPP, a blitzer skilled Guard, and a linerat died
UW - Whitewater Warfrogs: 1030 TV, +0 TD, -1 cas, +10 SPP, a catcher skilled Guard
Gallaudet Deaf Bulls: 980 TV, +0 TD, -1 cas, +10 SPP, a bull centaur got Block, and a Chaos Dorf and a Hobgoblin were lost
Toledo Radrockets: 1030 TV, -1 TD, +0 cas, +12 SPP, a Blitzer gets +MA
Indiana Horrors: 910 TV, -2 TD, +1 cas, +11 SPP, a Ghoul learned Block, the team lost a Werewolf and a Zombie, and the team purchased a Zombie
UMass Minimen: 1020 TV, -2 TD, +1 cas, +8 SPP, a dorf blocker skilled Guard and purchased an Apo

All 10 teams gained exactly 1 skill, except Hawaii who picked up 2. 3 teams lost a total of 5 players, and 2 teams managed to gain a player. 3 apo's were purchased. Guard becomes a fiercely sought after asset! 1 double, 1 MA, 1 STR out of 11 skill rolls. As 4 teams started with an apo, all teams now have an apothecary (or 2 have necromancy) except Gallaudet Deaf Bulls.

A difficult game that included nothing less than THREE Blitz! kick off results. However, the Ratz were not prepared to capitalize on either of theirs, and Ottawa completely overcommitted and gave away a touchdown when they got one.

Overall, Ottawa brought the pain to the Ratz; and when Fabio snagged an interception, followed by cas-ing the gutter runner that tried to get the ball back from him, and then scoring a touchdown, well, the Ratz were simply outmanned and down 2-0.

Ottawa gets their first win!

This game was decided by the initial coin toss. Ottawa wins, and receives; on the opening block, kills a Hawaii lineman. The rest of the first half was Ottawa moving down the field, and after the elves initial defensive attempt is denied, the elves find themselves scattered across the pitch. Ottawa stalls out a full 8 turns, trying to deal damage.

The second half, the pro elves are forced to score in a mere two turns. When Julian Starr receives the ball for the second time for Ottawa, the elves find themselves unable to deal with Str 4 Dodge, and for a second time Ottawa stalls out until turn 8 to seal the win.

Our next match is against Indiana, who have been previously brutalized.

Round 4:

The match against Indiana has been completed! Unfortunately, inducements did not really even out the 430k difference between the two teams.

The first half of the match, Julian Starr took out Hack Enslash and Bobby Wight. A few other players were removed as well. The sheer numbers advantage left nothing left for Indiana, and they couldn't prevent Ottawa from scoring twice more in the second half.

However, from Ottawa's view, this game was excellent, as no less than FIVE players all learned block in the same game. We now have 5 blodgers, and a block mummy.

Our next game is against the mighty Bazakastine, and his Texas AM Aggros. These chaos dwarves are badly beat up, but have enough money to really turn things around if needed.

Didn't quite go as planned.
Brutal match. Zombie badly hurt by a thrown rock on turn 0. First block, a chaos dwarf mercenary gets badly hurt. From there, well, Ottawa went on a rampage. Killing hobgoblins, badly hurting chaos dwarves and more hobgobbos.

Of course, it was raining. And Julian Starr failed 6 pickup attempts in a row. So, the Aggros stole a touchdown in the first half. Then, Ottawa was unable to score (due to no re-rolls and a double skull, plus well placed Aggros). Second half, Aggros recieve, and .. despite a fevered defense (designed with scoring in mind as soon as the ball was popped).. Jashuan Corbin, break tackle bull centaur, was able to blitz himself and score. 2-0, only 4 turns left. Julian Starr finally succeeds on a pickup! But we can't score in only 2 turns, it takes us 3, and there is no riot, no blitz, and we cannot score again. Might have to teach the team how to 'ball'.

Ottawa recieves and pushes forward mercilessly (but weakly. almost no damage the whole match, barely even KOs!), and score early in the first half. They then get a blitz! But fail 3 different catch attempts, and can't get the ball (quad skulls!!), so Toledo tie it up 1-1. 2 turns left. Ottawa tries for the 2 turn touchdown, and after a MASSIVE number of push results, fail the catch attempt. 1-1 at the half.

Toledo move forward, and there is a massive scrum in the mid-field on the Ottawa side. Ball carrier is 10 squares from touchdown - welp, no problem. Wait! Snake eyes on the GFI, stuns the gutter runner! Ottawa gets back to cover the ball, and then semi-carefully breaks it back out. Rats all over the pitch are on the ground. More of them snake eye dodges and gfis. A push attempt lets Glart Jr get a shot at the ghoul, but yet another 1 on the gfi keeps the blodger up. Julian Starr moves into the Toledo backfield and uses up the last team rr to take the ball. Toledo keep trying to take down the ball, but against str 4 blodge, with no team rr available, they don't have enough, and Ottawa successfully stalls out to score on turn 8.
