DLE Season 5 Pre-Season ARC Rankings
As the Draft League Europe's 32 franchises begin to set sail on Season 5 let's take a look at what's going on there. Starting with the bottom and working our way up...
32.) Skar Bay Sharks: "The Carp" started last season at 31. They immediately dropped to 32 and have been there ever since. A new coach could infuse new energy. A decent off season improvement to the roster, but until we see improvement on the pitch, These sharks are the bottom feeders of the league.
31.) Fort Solace Griffins: The 'Fins have gone through a restructure during the offseason and added a hand full of local talent as well as a pair of developmental draft picks. With one of the worst records last season, we will reserve judgement until we see if they can keep their players healthy enough to compete.
30.) Talabheim Slugger: The Slugs also went through an off-season restructure. A different type though. One similar to what the new process is like. So even after that and the draft they remain the lowest TW in the league. This is one of the many teams in the league where the coach has drastically improved by sticking around. But I'm not sure if that coaching skill is enough to overcome the light roster.
29.) Altdorf Thunderbolts: Top 10 in league TW. Coaching staff needs to prove that they deserve to be higher on the list. A couple wins at the start of the season would go a long way.
28.) Barboza Bruisers: Not alot of noise coming from Barboza this off-season. Coach kummo seems to have become a bit of a recluse. We hope that this is to block out distractions and focus on the team and not the beginning of the end for this fun coach!
27.) Averheim River Bandits: Weak Roster + New Coach = Uncertainty for Bucco Bruce. Can Sharkrudi help ARB regain it's championship form? Only time will tell. But in a much improved division it will not be an easy task.
26.) Praag Grizzlies: I can only imagine coach sonrises reaction when he reads these rankings. I can imagine that he thinks his Grizzlies deserve to be much higher on this list. I, however, feel that following the "Quik-Flix" method of Roster Management will be as successful as it was in Remas last season. 8 MB might look nice on the roster, but it will not win you many games. The Cubs have gained some bite, but have no one to help Amaro with the ball handling duties.
25.) Norden Legion: Can Chuck Evans save the Legion and push Pink Power back to the top of the SHC East? I don't think he can do it, but it appears that coach JackH believes it is possible. Having one of the lowest TW teams the coach decided to bet the future of the franchise on Evans, sending a future 1st as well as a 2nd to Kislev for the lino's services. Hope it works out for you coach!
24.) Muckenhof Manticores: Not much to say here really... The DLE's quietest coach brings his Manticores into season 5 with a 3 season record of 10/9/23. In order to be any higher in these rankings he will have to improve upon that.
23.) Templehof Thunder: I like this coach, I think he is another that is much improved. I'm just not crazy about this roster. Best of luck coach... Prove me wrong. ;)
22.) Carroburg Crimson Cascade: Last season I ranked 3C at 17th and they finished 19th. This season I see them as a little weaker than that, hence the reason that they come in at 22. Being in a division with the Pelts and the Vikes doesn't make for an easy life.
21.) Los Cabos Marauders: In my opinion, I believe that the monkey behind this team is one of the most under-rated coaches in the DLE. But he happens to be in a division with one of the league's most successful coaches and one of the best coaches in league. So until he can prove that he can surpass those guys, I have to put him right around 20ish.
20.) Middenheim Classics: Bigf is one of the DLE's most improved coaches. And he suffered through last season to have a big draft class this season. The result is an increase of about 400TW. Now let's see what he can do with it. Results vs Thunder and Butterknives should tell us a lot.
19.) Wolfsbach Scimitars: Speaking of the Butterknives, they fall right here for now. Last season was pretty good for the 'knives making their first playoff appearance. However, there is a pattern with this team that needs to be broken. Season 2 they had a winning season and were just short of making playoffs. With high expectations they in season 3 that lost 13 games. Only to turn it around last season. Will the pattern continue?
18.) Emsk Red Cardinals: This team is in a tough spot. That is being a mediocre team in the strongest division in the league. If Calthor can outcoach the other coaches in his division then Emsk will climb these rankings, but that is no easy task considering the caliber of coaches in the KFC North.
17.) Remas Eagles: The Iggles, as we fans call them, went through another overhaul this off-season and I like the outcome much better than the roster that they began last season with. While the youngster at the helm is much improved and very self confident, he will have to produce results on the pitch to climb the ARC!
16.) Hargendorf Unicorns: The One Horns went into season 4 rather thin. They started very hot. At least 4 straight wins to start the season, climbed into the top 10 of the rankings and then started to get thinned out even more. After a restructure and a full draft they are back and looking as strong as ever. With one of the strongest coaches in the league and a coach change in Flashfurt, these mystical beasts could possibly challenge for the title.
15.) Irrana Avalanche: How can a team make the championship game and then be ranked in the middle of the pack? Well, I think they overachieved to get where they got. I think that there are many better teams in SHC than the Avs. I think CaptainRhino is a good coach, who is underrated. But I think that there are lots of good coaches in DLE. So while this may seem as a slap in the face, it's really meant more as a compliment to the other coaches ;)
14.) Rotenbach Razorbacks: No coach in the DLE can do so much with so little. And once again I feel that the Hawgs have very little to work with. But if anyone can produce with this roster it would be SpecialOne. I feel that as long as he has bodies to put on the pitch, he will get the most out of them and have a chance to win.
13.) Kemperbad Knights: The_Demon has been very successful in 4 seasons in the DLE. I do however feel like the pack has caught up to him and his Bad Knights. While I do still see him as a top half coach and team, 13 in the pre-season is a big slide last season's #1 Pre-season ranking.
12.) Erengrad Vikings: The Vikes are another franchise I feel is slightly headed in the wrong direction at no real fault of their own. Is missing the playoffs last season the first step in a backward slide? The teams around them seem to be improving at a faster rate than they are.
11.) Monte Castello Wreckers: Coach Hoodless always tries to downplay the strength of this team. Well this season I am going to help him. After choking in the playoffs and going one and done, they didn't seem to improve their roster much. And with the coaches penchant for going off the deep end at the first sign of a bad roll or two, I'm not even sure I see this team in the playoffs this season. And I definitely expect a different SHC South Champ in season 5.
10.) Bilbali Rangers: Is this the season the Rangers break through? I believe it could be. They could be the DLE's most dangerous squad. They were a true Wrecking Ball last season. And I expect more of the same this season.
9.) Marienburg Foxes: While I hate this team's uniforms, I love their coach. I think MLS is one of the DLE's strongest coaches and I expect him to be in the hunt in the strongest division in the DLE and making noise come playoff time.
8.) Brionne Buccaneers: The Mean one has the Bucs looking mean again. After quite a bit of bad luck and destruction last season the Bucs were in pretty bad shape. But in Mean and Ugly Fashion the team has been rebuilt to be the Fattest Roster in the league.
7.) Nuln Gunners: KFCC participant and I expect more of the same this season. Horekim is a great coach and has improved upon the great foundation that pokrjax left in Nuln.
6.) Grenzburg Greenskins: The Orcs had a great season last season and look to continue to improve this season. Coach Matthueycamo has this team playing to his strengths and is eyeing a Championship for the Greenie Meanies. I don't know if they are quite ready for that or not, but it's definitely possible.
5.) Flashfurt Universe: It's always tough to be the one to follow "The Man." Wreckage is the standard with which all DLE coaches will be measured. Two Championships in 4 Seasons. The winningest record in League history. Can Badpublicity fill these shoes? Can he keep this team at the top of the DLE Upper Echelon? Or will be destroy the Universe as we know it? These are questions that will be answered as the season progresses.
4.) San Luis 49ers: Danes, Danes Everywhere. Does the "D" in DLE stand for Denmark? Denmark has sent us 3 of the last 4 coaches on this list. It seems to be a Danish Takeover in the DLE. mobo is a great coach who took over a great team that was built up by neubau. And he will get tested early this season starting with Broekwater and Flashfurt. GL coach... prove yourself worthy of this tanking.
3.) Wolfenburg Wolfskins: Can the Cool Dentist get this team to the next level? Laskas has taken these guys further than his predecessor ever did. And they seem poised to be ready for another title run.
2.) Kislev White Wolves: This team and coach are fantastic. I expect great things here. I believe the White Wolves are the team to beat in the SHC. Last season they knocked Kemperbad from their perch at the top of the division. This season I expect them to begin to build a nest at the peak of the SHC.
1.) Broekwater Patriots: The ultra-conservative coach of the Pats came out of his shell a bit in the post-season last season and it paid off big time. If he can continue such play and continue to keep his players healthy I believe he is sitting pretty to defend and retain his title.

And Cardinals start off with a loss against the Eagles... Well, you did rate them just higher than the Cardinals. Clearly it's the fault of these rankings!

Eh, given our random performance during season 4, #12 seems nice to the Vikings. I'm lacking some real power, low on guard, mighty blow and ST4.

"has anyone seen coach sonrises?" shouts jeffrey with little hope of getting a positive answer. Jeffrey had been searching for coach sonrises the last 2 hours with no success. This was his last try ... a coffee bar 3 miles away from Grizzlies training facilities.
"SSShhhhhh, You! Jeffrey! here!" A loud familiar whisper could be heard. Jeffrey scans around hoping to find coach sonrises but he cant recognise anyone in the coffe bar.
"Shhhh! down here! it is me! coach sonrises!". Jeffrey couldnt believe his eyes. Coach sonrises dressing up like a fat 50 something lady!. "Coach, is that you?"
"Quiet jeffrey! i am hiding! shhhh"
"But owners want to have a talk with you coach... inmediately. You need to come to Headoffice now" replies Jeffrey.
"No way i am coming!!"

"Well coach, you signed very good players... Draken is a beast and mobile, Vaccaro is a silent, swift killer and Foster is a hidden gem, just needs a bit of time and development... Now i am going to get sacked instead if owners find me today...but they will not...I will hide all day and my renewal clause will be effective tomorrow morning...muwhahahaha..." And coach sonrises disguised as a 50+ old fat woman runs off the cofee bar loudly laughing like a mad man...well woman...

These Rankings are perhaps the most fun aspect of DLE. Doing them after every game was a little ambitious last season, but with a 16 game season, it would be cool to see them after every 4 games or so, if your emergy persists.
The Unicorns obviously arn't going to sit mid-pack, once you see some Season 5 games, not after kicking the Universe and it's coach out of the play-offs last season. But at least you didn't err as bad as last year and put them in the bottom 4!
