Throw A Rock: Fluff needed
So where even the best throwers in this game seem to throw like cross-eyed girls (no disrespect), how come that whenever the Kick-Off Table brings up Throw A Rock somebody ALWAYS gets hit? No Pass, no Safe Throw, no Accurate and no +AG +AG. So what's up with that? Should Throw A Rock actually be called Thrown Rocks where lots of rocks (or stadium furniture, beer jugs and goblin children) are thrown yet only one object manages to hit a player? Is it Nuffle himself who does the throwing (since obviously he's the one changing the weather all the time) and he would never miss? Help me out here!

The spectators are always throwing rocks at the players as they take to the field! They are usually missing.

It's why there's so many serious injuries and deaths caused by falls, because the pitch is strewn with sharp rocks that players fall over and/or onto.

Excellent fluff chainsaw.

Did you know - in 2nd edition Throw rock use to miss and scatter. The rules were roll 1 d6; 1-2 Missed me... scatters once. 3-6 Wallop! ... make an armour roll and do not get knocked down unless Av broken.

So as you can see they changed it big time for 3rd edition and on.

god knows why as it is fine as it was.

What was it like in 1st edition?

In fact, the rock is thrown by lucky fans watching the game from a BridgeStone hot air balloon. Big rocks not being too subject to winds, precision is assured.

I would say that rocks are thrown along with other things throughout the game. I think of the throw a rock result as someone actually getting lucky enough to finally hit someone. The only fluff I would then need is why that particular players was chosen as a target. They could have slept with someone's sister or reneged on a bet or many other reasons.

Or maybe you called someone's sister a 'cross-eyed thrower'. I like Chainsaw's explanation the best.

The fact that it bypasses armor seems pretty odd to me as well.

Maybe you don't know that the most famous rock thrower is a nameless Troll with strong arm, accurate, safe throw and hail Mary pass. For some strange reason he hasn't mighty blow, but his rocks do. He was an ex-blood bowl player sacked from some forgotten team, vowing for revenge on players still playing, called for that reason the Serial Rock Thrower. He has spectated no less than 10000 games and killed more players than Morg'n'Thorg, Skitter Stab-Stab and Ratmut III together.

Thank you guys!
@Chainsaw: I believe you.
@Garion: I wouldn't mind having those rules back.
@mrbibitte3: Makes sense! It's goblins right? http://vaso.webzdarma.cz/gallery/G/Goblin%20Balloon%20Brigade.JPG
@Corn/Cavetroll: Why are you looking at me :s
@Crook666: For the same reason I want those guys that are involved in Pitch Invasions on my teams. All stuns, love those!

@ keggiemckill - At work at the moment, but I will check the 1st edition rule book when I get home. I don't think there was a throw rock in 1st edition though because it was only introduced to 2nd edition when the Companion book came out with some extra rules and races.

In fact, I miss the good old Pitch Invasion, wouldn't mind at all to have back straight injury rolls instead of auto-stuns, especially as it would eventually take care of many clawpombers hopefuls ;)

The old pitch invasion was bad in tabletop, as it took ages to resolve. That would not be a problem here on fumbbl where computer calculates automatically.

The same goes for some other stuff I guess.

I like Chainsaws fluff, though, I think I read that somewhere in one of the rule books, doh!
Posted by Chainsaw on 2013-10-19 21:13:32
I made it up. If it's in a/the rulebook, it's either coincidence or I have a capacity to recall things without knowing I've done so!
Posted by Garion on 2013-10-19 21:49:21
It's definitely not in the rule book.

Open your eyes, it's not a rock !!!!!!!
There are so many reasons to hire an assassin with a crossbow: another jealous player, an outraged husband, the coach of the opposing team, gambling debts to repay.

Now we're talking!

Assassin was another option in 2nd Ed. You could also employ spies to counter the Dirty Tricks of your opponent, and if you employed more than them you gained RR(s) iirc.

Love Potion on the Cards is from 2nd Ed too (maybe 1st? I didnt play 1st)... I miss the Chaos Human See-Saw :/
