I do agree with you , but there are some very smart people on this site who may have an idea how or what i can do police and bank say they cannot help

How did you pay for it? Can you stop payment on the check for instance? PayPal you can dispute it if you paid goods and services. There's a few things depending on how you paid. If it was a money order you're screwed.

And no, the police can't help you if you paid everything up front without a contract or something. (I'm assuming you're in the US)

Call the Citizen's Advice Bureau if you haven't already. They're probably your best source of advice.

There is a lot of stuff online about only using registered dog breeders for buying puppies, for many many reasons. Fraud is just one of them. I think that’s the last you will see of that money. Even if the police can get involved and catch them in most cases they plead poverty and pay a nominal sum as lawyers are smart and guide the client through the Means To Pay form to ensure they get away with paying as little as possible.

Sorry to sound brutal but I certainly wouldn’t be paying 2 grand to anyone without going through official channels. If the price sounds too good to be true it probably is!

Just to clarify if it’s registered dealer then you have some recourse.

Also if in UK contact The Kennel Club as they maybe aware if same person scamming others

Ouch, sorry to hear that, that's a high price to pay to learn this lesson. As Jogrenaught said your best bet is if you can still somehow call back the payment. Don't throw any good money after bad by hiring a lawyer, the chances of getting your money back that way are unfortunately very slim. Was this an online contact only, or have you ever seen the person or the puppy? Possibly the puppy doesn't even exist?

the puppy exsists but my misses jumps in with 2 feet n paid full ammount instead of deposit lol, its basically looking like a suck it up and lesson learnt kind of thing

It's theft or fraud, which is a police matter in my opinion. Don't let them fob you off. There should be a complaints procedure on your local police website.

Two grand ain't nothing to scoff at and drop without a fight... if it was through a bank, they should be able to stop payment or reverse charges (check or debit card transaction). If it was cash - then they stole it. No need for you to say that you gave it to them for something they didn't deliver... you were robbed. Who cares if they blocked your number... you know where they live?! Go there. Get your cash, homie.

If you paid by bank, you have a name and an account number.

I believe there's a Small Claims Court in the UK. Go to the court, show your receipts, and the other guy has to either prove he doesn't owe you money or pay up.

*update* as it stands bank refused to help until we got fraud team and financial ombudsman in to help, now it seems like the banks are going to freeze their accounts until they can prove they gave us the dog .Police have all the text messages they have sent us but it could take anywhere up to 15 days.i have texts saying they will deliver dog and then 5 minutes later a text saying that a dog was deliverd to my address and that we stole it and they are calling the police so they have to prove dog was deliverd, police have been here and found no dog lol no even evidence of us ever having a pet.we may not get all the money back but some is better than none

Good solid argument by them. You stole the dog that you can easily prove you sent them £2,000 for...
