My Speed Freaks Challenge Virginity
I recently played my first SFC. Obviously I joined in with my Halfling the Fylke's Foodeaters. I actually thought I wouldn't be that underpowered because in chat everyone talked about how crap team they were going to join with. Teams that were a bit hurt or similar.

When I did get to play them they didn't look hurt at all and certainly made the TR-range only by retiring a player. I always thought that in a TR-range the "bad teams" where those of a bit lower TR not those that got within the TR rane by retiring a player or two.

Well enough on that. It almost sounds mean and bad now when I read it again. And that was certainly not my intention. Instead I will now talk about the Speed Freaks challenge. I was a bit scared at first about how it was going to go and the stress-moment almost had me killed.

But that was before the games started. Turned out I actually can do short turns. In fact not once did the turn end for me before I wanted it to (except by turnovers obviously) and it was all great fun.

Afterwards I wondered how much more fun it would have been had I played with a team that had a bit more chance. Even so I think I did fairly good. Almost managing a tie twice. And I was even a dice-roll away from a win once.

Of course that didn't stop Nuffle from laughing heartily and letting the underdog lose as happens in real life but never in the inspirational sports movies.

However Speed Freaks was a joy to play in and I look forward to the next time I'll be able to play in one. I can kinda see how it would be scary to enter a team where hurtings really hurt. In smacks you tend to only play one game (or I do anyway, for the aforementioned reasons. Everyone else bring TR-top/Tr-top+ teams I bring TR-top-20/TR-top-20 teams) but in an SFC you play four.

The fact is actually (to end this on the sour note it opened after having all this fun and games in between) that by the second game my halflings didn't have much of a good time and I was a bit frustrated. It wasn't until the third game I scored my first TD and my first CAS that things looked brighter again. I suppose that one really shouldn't play with an underdog team because while it's fun in smacks for one game. Four games of endless pouncing by merciless coaches might not be as fun.
