Chess pieces don't move that way.
Like most Norwegians, I've been following the Chess World Championship in Chennai (India). I used to play alot of chess when I was younger, but after more than a decade of playing Blood Bowl my chess play is ruined. Every time I look at chess board, I see tackle zones and movement range.

Not that i play chess, but i guess i am kinda sick about BloodBowl too, asi i tend to see tackle zones and so on and think "How much str does orange streets have? And what about green ones? 2 dice block or even 3?" when i see Monopoly board set up by some of my nephews, lol. It does not happen everytime, but it often does ;)

The terrible thing about Chess is that the better player always wins.

I used to be a chess player, but there was too much clawpomb ...
Every time one of my pieces fell he died :D

Chess pieces cannot acquire skills. Booooooring.

Oh, and the Queen is overpowered. And the King is so crappy - why would I want him on the team? He's like a snotling that makes you lose the game when knocked out.

Walk down the street and see a chav being an idiot as normal. You just want to use your chainsaw, Get an assist and smash him and then follow up with a spiked boot!

Might just be me thinking that though

Bloodbowl is like chess in that it is game of complete information; to be as exciting as poker: skills should be hidden from the opposing coach until they are used. Same with your bench and inducements (has he got a wizard?) - that would be a lot fun. Or you'd be able to bet money on it :)

Ohhhh - I like that idea! Only basic information (player types on the pitch) at the beginning of a match, the rest is only revealed during play (added to the player info once used). Although all mutations must be obvious from the start. You'd never know how many RRs the opposing team has as well - only how many it has used already during the current/last half.

I want to try that game! :-D

Problems come when you start thinking that way in you daily life. Tink of slow traffic for example. I start thinking. If I get an assist, I could just nudge that guy out of my way. Or, With a couple more assists I could push that troll of a fruit truck right off the road and into the crowd. I don't even need a pow. Just a push.

Of course you know the opponent's skills, it's part of your staff's job to scout out your opponents so you can make your game plan accordingly.

Although maybe newly acquired skills should be hidden until they were used in a match or two. :P

For crazy hidden stuff, play with cards. :)

Man oh man, I thought I was bringing BB up in normal life a little to often. Apon hearing your stories I know I am now only 1/2 crazy. If I watch football I tend to quietly add skills to the players. If someone dives for a catch, I say to myself he has diving catch, Ect.

I watched The Hobbit the other night and I am pretty sure Bilbo has the leap skill. Silly things like that come up often in mah head.
